In a shocking incident that has left the local community in disbelief, 42-year-old NRI Barinder Singh was mercilessly killed by unknown assailants on Monday night. The horrific incident took place at Thakur Colony on Pakhowal Road, shaking the tranquility of the area.
Barinder, who had returned from Canada just four months ago, was returning home from his farmhouse when he was ambushed by motorcycle-borne attackers. According to Assistant Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) Suhail Qassim Mir, preliminary investigations suggest that the motive behind the crime is a personal grudge, as the assailants made no attempt to steal Barinder’s cell phone or cash.
Law enforcement officials have managed to acquire CCTV footage, which reveals four suspects in connection with the crime. Furthermore, they will be scrutinizing the call details of the deceased in hopes of unraveling the truth. ADCP Mir expressed confidence in resolving the case swiftly, stating, “We are exploring multiple angles, and I am optimistic that we will soon crack this case.”
Sources close to the investigation disclosed that Barinder had been entangled in a dispute over the ownership of a bungalow. However, a close friend of the deceased, Jaspreet Singh, vehemently denied the allegations, asserting that Barinder possessed all the necessary documentation pertaining to the disputed property.
It has been reported that Barinder purchased a controversial 250 square-yard house in Satjot Nagar for a mere Rs 10 lakh, subsequently taking possession of the property by force. The matter had already been brought to the attention of the authorities, resulting in the registration of a case.
As the investigation unfolds, the community mourns the loss of an NRI who had recently returned to his homeland with dreams of a better life. The police, determined to bring the culprits to justice, are leaving no stone unturned in their quest for the truth.
