Persistent Infiltration: Pakistani Drones Seized at Border, Narcotics Smuggling Foiled

by Parminder Singh Sodhi

In a continuation of cross-border infiltrations, Pakistani drones continue to be a concern along the border. The Border Security Force (BSF) and Punjab Police have been vigilant, seizing several drones and drug consignments on a regular basis. In a recent incident, the BSF confiscated two Pakistani drones in a single day.

According to reports, based on intelligence inputs, a joint operation conducted by BSF’s Amritsar sector and Punjab Police targeted the bordering village of Hardo Ratan and fields near the dock, resulting in the seizure of two drones. Additionally, acting on undisclosed information, the police apprehended an Indian smuggler along with ₹1,00,000 worth of drug money.

This comes after a significant drone, damaged severely, was recovered near a government school in the bordering village of Dhariwal, indicating the relentless efforts of law enforcement and security agencies against smugglers. Despite these seizures, it appears that the power of the police and security agencies is yet to have a significant impact on the activities of smugglers.

The consistent attempts at infiltration via drones underscore the need for heightened surveillance and advanced technology along the border. The authorities must remain vigilant and proactive in thwarting such nefarious activities to ensure the safety and security of the border regions.
