PAU Professor Clinches National Award at AGMET-2025

Dr. Harleen Kaur, an Assistant Professor from the Department of Climate Change and Agricultural Meteorology at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), has garnered significant acclaim by winning the “Best Oral Presentation Award” at the prestigious AGMET-2025 seminar. The national event, hosted by Assam Agricultural University in Jorhat from February 13-15, brought together experts and innovators dedicated to leveraging weather and climate data for agricultural advancements.

Dr. Kaur’s award-winning presentation, based on the research paper “Role of Resource Intensive Irrigated Wheat Cultivation in Enhancing Climate Change in Different Regions of Punjab, India,” was co-authored with Prabhjot Kaur. The study delves into the complexities of wheat cultivation practices and their implications on the regional climate, presenting critical insights at a time when sustainable agricultural practices are under the global spotlight.

The seminar, which focused on cutting-edge technologies for making climate-based decisions in agriculture and its allied sectors, provided a robust platform for scholars and researchers to share their innovations. Dr. Kaur’s research stood out among numerous entries, earning praise for its depth and relevance to contemporary challenges in agricultural meteorology.

Celebrations at PAU were abundant following the announcement of the award. Dr. Satbir Singh Gosal, Vice-Chancellor of PAU, along with senior officials including Dr. AS Dhatt (Director of Research), Dr. MS Bhullar (Director of Extension Education), Dr. MIS Gill (Dean Post-graduate Studies), Dr. CS Aulakh (Dean, College of Agriculture), Dr. TS Riar (Additional Director Communication), and Dr. PK Kingra (Head, Climate Change and Agricultural Meteorology) extended their hearty congratulations to Dr. Kaur.
