In a significant endorsement of local law enforcement efforts, Governor Banwarilal Purohit commended the district police’s new initiative, “Navekali Pehal,” which encourages women to actively participate in the fight against drug trafficking. Addressing village defence committees (VDCs) in Bareke village, situated along the Indo-Pakistan border, Purohit highlighted the vital role women could play in this critical battle.
Speaking to the VDCs this morning, Purohit lauded their progress in border districts, noting the initiative’s promising results. He also announced special rewards for panchayats and individuals who have contributed significantly to the recovery of drones and illicit drugs. The Governor emphasized the need for the scheme to gain momentum across the state, underscoring that empowering women and involving them in drug eradication efforts should be a statewide priority.
Purohit also took the opportunity to issue a stern warning about the ongoing threats posed by Pakistani agencies, which, he said, are attempting to destabilize the socio-economic structure of the region and the nation. He called for heightened vigilance and proactive measures to counter these destabilizing efforts.
Following his visit to Bareke, the Governor convened a high-level meeting at the Ferozepur Club, bringing together various agencies, paramilitary forces, and officials from the Army, police, and Border Security Force (BSF). During this session, he urged a unified approach to address and overcome the challenges posed by activities from across the border, ensuring that national security remains uncompromised.
Purohit’s visit and statements underline a concerted effort to bolster local and state-level responses to drug trafficking and border security, with a particular focus on community involvement and inter-agency cooperation.
