Pakistan on the Track to Terror; Must Look Inwards Before Blaming Others

by Parminder Singh Sodhi

In a forceful response to Pakistan’s laughable and baseless claims of Indian involvement in terrorism, India on Friday rejected the accusations outright, urging Islamabad to address its own internal challenges rather than shifting blame for its setbacks.

Responding to Pakistan’s indirect allegation that India was “sponsoring terrorism”—a charge raised in connection with the fatal train attack in Balochistan that claimed 21 lives—India’s External Affairs Ministry firmly dismissed the claims as “baseless.” Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal told reporters that Pakistan’s assertions were nothing more than an attempt to deflect attention from its own internal issues.

“The whole world knows where the epicentre of global terrorism lies,” Jaiswal stated, emphasizing that the focus should be on addressing the root causes of extremism rather than engaging in finger-pointing across borders. His remarks underscored India’s confidence in its counter-terrorism efforts and its commitment to an evidence-based dialogue on global security.

Pakistan’s allegations, though couched in measured language, come at a time when regional tensions are already high following the tragic incident in Balochistan. Critics say the move by Islamabad appears designed to divert attention from domestic challenges and the ongoing debate over security measures within its own borders.

In his address, Jaiswal added that Pakistan should “look inwards instead of pointing fingers and shifting the blame for its own internal problems and failures on others.” His comments reflect a broader sentiment in New Delhi that external accusations should be substantiated by clear evidence rather than being used as a political tool.

As diplomatic exchanges continue to intensify, experts warn that such rhetoric may only deepen the divide between the two neighboring nations. For now, both sides remain entrenched in their positions, with India standing firm on its narrative and Pakistan persisting in its claims.

The incident and its ensuing diplomatic drama are likely to fuel further debate in the international community about the nature of terrorism in the region, as well as the need for a more collaborative approach to combat global extremism.
