The serene streets of Amritsar came alive with devotion and celebration on Wednesday as thousands of devotees participated in a grand nagar kirtan procession marking the anniversary of the installation of the Guru Granth Sahib.

The streets were adorned with colorful banners and festoons as the procession wended its way through the city. Devotees, young and old, joined in the vibrant display of faith, with many taking the opportunity to partake in a sacred dip in the revered sarovar of the Golden Temple earlier in the day.

A standout feature of the day’s celebrations was the performance of ‘gatka,’ an ancient Sikh martial art. Young participants demonstrated their skills in this traditional combat practice, captivating spectators with their disciplined movements and precise techniques. The energetic display not only highlighted the martial heritage of Sikhism but also drew admiration from all who witnessed it.

The nagar kirtan, a traditional procession involving the singing of hymns and the recitation of sacred texts, was marked by its jubilant spirit and profound reverence. The event served as a testament to the enduring significance of the Guru Granth Sahib in the lives of the Sikh community.

As the procession concluded, the atmosphere remained charged with spiritual fervor and community spirit, reflecting the deep-seated reverence for the Guru Granth Sahib and the cultural heritage it represents.
