The Punjab Government is making extensive preparations to commemorate the 350th martyrdom day of Guru Tegh Bahadur in November, Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains announced on Monday. The state plans to mark the occasion with a series of large-scale events honouring the revered Sikh Guru, who is remembered as the “Hind Di Chadar” for his supreme sacrifice in defending religious freedom.

To ensure smooth and dignified celebrations, a high-level committee comprising ministers Harjot Singh Bains, Harbhajan Singh ETO, and Tarunpreet Singh Sond will soon begin a detailed inspection of four major nagar kirtan routes across Punjab. The team will oversee the progress of development and infrastructural projects along these routes, ensuring that all arrangements meet the expectations for an event of such historic significance.

“We will review every aspect of the preparations — from roadworks and logistical coordination to public amenities,” said Bains while addressing the media. “Meetings will also be held with Deputy Commissioners and MLAs to ensure seamless collaboration among departments for the successful observance of this sacred occasion.”

The Education Minister added that the commemoration will not only pay tribute to Guru Tegh Bahadur’s sacrifice but will also serve as a reminder of his enduring message of courage, compassion, and unity. The Punjab Government, he said, aims to host the event at a “grand level” to reflect the Guru’s unmatched contribution to humanity and spiritual heritage.

The state’s preparations come amid growing anticipation among devotees and Sikh organisations worldwide, who are expected to participate in large numbers in the November events.
