In a vibrant celebration of Punjab’s rich cultural and architectural legacy, a select group of dignitaries unveiled a pictorial art calendar titled Heritage Monuments of Punjab – Landmarks of Historic Legacy along with a compelling documentary film earlier today in Ludhiana. The event brought together academic leaders, law enforcement officers, government officials, and cultural enthusiasts—all united in their mission to honor and preserve the state’s ancient heritage.

Dr. Satbir Singh Gosal, Vice Chancellor of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), led the ceremony along with Inspector General of Police, Ludhiana Range Dhanpreet Kaur, IPS, Administrator GLADA Harpreet Singh, IAS, Principal Director Income Tax (Investigation) Dr. Ashish Abrol, IRS, Deputy Commissioner Customs Atul Tirkey, IRS, and HRERA Chairperson Parneet Sachdev. Each dignitary expressed strong support for the initiative that seeks both to educate the public and instill a sense of pride in Punjab’s historic treasures.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Gosal lauded the work of renowned author and advocate Harpreet Sandhu, emphasizing the significance of highlighting the state’s centuries-old monuments. “Through this calendar and documentary, we are not merely recounting history; we are inspiring a deep reverence for the legacy that defines Punjab,” he remarked.

IG Dhanpreet Kaur also recognized the calendar as an important educational tool. “This initiative not only pays homage to landmarks that have stood the test of time but also encourages the next generation to explore and appreciate our storied heritage,” she stated.

Administrator GLADA Harpreet Singh described the calendar as “an exquisite fusion of art and history” and highlighted its role in bringing Punjab’s monumental past into the everyday lives of its citizens. Echoing these sentiments, Dr. Ashish Abrol noted that the pictorial work is “an ideal compilation for history enthusiasts and cultural connoisseurs alike,” poised to become a cherished resource for future generations.

Deputy Commissioner Customs Atul Tirkey applauded Harpreet Sandhu’s creative vision, which intertwines artistic flair with historical significance, to motivate people to take pride in the state’s architectural wonders. HRERA Chairperson Parneet Sachdev added that the calendar vividly showcases celebrated sites such as the Tomb of Muhammad Momin and Haji Jamal in Nakodar (Jalandhar), Maharaja Duleep Singh Memorial in Bassian Kothi (Raikot, Ludhiana), Dakhni Sarai in Nakodar (Jalandhar), as well as famed institutions and forts in Amritsar, Bathinda, Phillaur, Kapurthala, Patiala, and Ferozepur.

Harpreet Sandhu, the creative force behind the project, explained that the calendar was prepared with guidance from eminent academicians including Dr. Satbir Singh Gosal (PAU), Prof. Karamjeet Singh (Vice Chancellor, GNDU Amritsar), Dr. Mehal Singh (Vice Chancellor, Khalsa University, Amritsar), and Padma Bhushan awardee Dr. S.S. Johl, former Chancellor. Their endorsement and support underscore the project’s scholarly and cultural value.

The event attracted a diverse audience—from senior officers and intellectuals to writers, respected medical professionals, and citizens passionate about history. As the calendar embarks on a year-long journey through Punjab’s illustrious past, organizers hope it will serve as both an educational reference and a source of pride for communities across the state.

In an era marked by rapid modernization, today’s celebration serves as a poignant reminder of the need to preserve and cherish the monuments that define Punjab’s identity. With initiatives like these, the legacy of Punjab’s glorious past continues to illuminate the present and inspire future generations.
