Gang rape cases in the UK rise again and make headlines

by Sudeep Singh

Recently, cases of rape gangs have been steadily increasing in the UK, which is a major cause for concern. It is also being observed that most of these cases involve Pakistani men, yet it is surprising that the UK police are downplaying the issue. This has led to public criticism of the government’s negligence and attempts to cover up the matter. The discussion gained momentum after statements from Elon Musk, J.K. Rowling, and several journalists, where they criticized police collusion and the UK administration’s complete failure to deliver justice. This came to light when the Labour government rejected the Oldham Town Council’s request for a national inquiry into the ‘grooming gangs’ scandal.

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, made strong comments on social media platform X, accusing the police of collusion, inaction against the gangs for many years, and even the arrest of victims and their families. Musk said, “There are so many people in positions of power in the UK who should be in jail for this.” Musk also launched a sharp attack on the UK’s current Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, who was the Director of the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) from 2008 to 2013, and who approved requests from the police to charge individuals accused of serious crimes like rape. Musk pointed out that when the ‘rape gangs’ were exploiting young girls, Starmer was in charge and allowed these crimes to happen. In another post, Musk highlighted that Starmer had been the Director of CPS until 2013 and is now the head of the government. Despite this, current Security Minister, Jesse Phillips, denied a national inquiry into the rape gang crimes, as it could implicate Starmer.
