In a meticulously orchestrated intelligence operation, the Punjab Police announced a significant breakthrough on Thursday, foiling potential target killings with the capture of two individuals associated with a Babbar Khalsa International (BKI)-backed terror module.
The mastermind behind this nefarious plot was identified as Harpreet Singh, also known as Happy Passian, a resident of the United States. Passian, a close confidant of the Pakistan-based terrorist Harwinder Singh Rinda, collaborated with his associate Shamsher Singh, alias Shera, currently residing in Armenia.
Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav revealed that preliminary investigations uncovered Passian’s role in tandem with Rinda and Shamsher, aimed at radicalizing impressionable youth to engage in anti-national activities within the state. The operation’s success marks a significant stride in Punjab Police’s relentless efforts to curb terrorism and maintain peace in the region.
The police operation yielded substantial evidence, including the confiscation of two pistols, four magazines, and 30 cartridges. These findings underscore the gravity of the threat posed by such terror networks and the critical importance of proactive law enforcement measures in thwarting their sinister agendas.
In response to this alarming development, an FIR has been lodged under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the Arms Act at the state Special Operation Cell in Amritsar. This decisive action underscores the Punjab Police’s commitment to upholding national security and safeguarding the well-being of its citizens.
The swift and coordinated efforts of law enforcement agencies have undoubtedly averted a potential catastrophe, underscoring the indispensable role of intelligence-led operations in preempting terrorist activities. Furthermore, this operation serves as a stark reminder of the persistent challenges posed by extremist ideologies and the imperative for sustained vigilance in combating terrorism on all fronts.
As the investigation unfolds, authorities remain vigilant, determined to dismantle any remnants of terror networks operating within the region. The apprehension of Passian and Shamsher sends a clear message that perpetrators of violence and those who seek to undermine the nation’s integrity will be pursued relentlessly and brought to justice.
In the face of such threats, unity, and resilience emerge as the strongest defenses, underscoring the collective resolve of the people and law enforcement agencies to safeguard peace and security in Punjab and beyond.
