In a bid to foster skill development and employment in Punjab, the Punjab Skill Development Mission (PSDM) has embarked on a transformative initiative by establishing a Centre of Excellence in the Beauty and Wellness sector. This ambitious project comes as part of PSDM’s commitment to empower the youth with specialized skills that are crucial for the service industry.
The landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was inked between PSDM and Hair Raiserz (Tress Lounge), a prominent name in the beauty industry, to train and employ 300 candidates annually. The agreement, signed by Ms. Amrit Singh, Mission Director of PSDM, and Mr. Munish Bajaj, Managing Director of Hair Raiserz, received accolades from Mr. Aman Arora, Minister of Employment Generation, Skill Development, and Training, Punjab, who graced the occasion.
Under the MoU, Hair Raiserz will provide free training under the SANKALP Scheme of PSDM, covering courses such as Assistant Hair Dresser & Stylist, Professional Makeup Artist, Assistant Nail Technician, and Nail Technician. Mr. Arora emphasized that this collaboration aims not only to enhance employability but also to encourage entrepreneurship among the youth, aligning with the state’s economic development goals.
Expressing his appreciation for the initiative, Mr. Arora highlighted that the project marks a significant stride towards equipping Punjab’s youth with the necessary skills to thrive in the competitive job market. He urged young aspirants to consider self-employment opportunities, thereby contributing to the state’s economic prosperity.
The training program includes specialized 4-day training and certification by Lo’real, further enhancing the candidates’ credentials in the beauty and wellness domain.
Hair Raiserz, entrusted with managing the Centre of Excellence, will oversee training, certification, and placement of candidates, ensuring adherence to PSDM guidelines. The initiative underscores PSDM’s role in facilitating partnerships that foster skill development, job creation, and economic growth across Punjab.
