Lovely Professional University (LPU) was abuzz with innovation and creativity as the Department of Student Research & Projects, under the Student Welfare Wing, hosted the annual ‘Innovation & Graduating Project Expo-2024’ dubbed as ‘INNOTEK’. The two-day extravaganza, held at Baldev Raj Mittal Unipolis, witnessed the unveiling of over 750 innovative projects spanning various disciplines.

The event, graced by elite guests from industries related to the projects, provided a platform for LPU students to showcase their ingenuity and entrepreneurial spirit. Pro Chancellor Mrs. Rashmi Mittal inaugurated the expo, inviting students from across the campus to explore the exhibits and encouraging them to learn from one another’s diverse backgrounds and perspectives.

With a focus on Engineering & Technology, Agriculture, Basic Health & Allied Sciences, Management & Social Sciences, and Applied Arts, the expo showcased the breadth of talent and innovation fostered within LPU’s vibrant community.

The Unipolis transformed into a hub of creativity resembling a tech park, with students’ projects captivating visitors’ attention. Among the standout innovations were those in Robotics and Drones, exemplified by the groundbreaking invention ‘HEXDOC’. Designed to address safety concerns in construction and excavation processes, particularly in confined spaces like tunnels and caves, HEXDOC boasts unique capabilities to navigate through tight spaces with minimal openings.

Notably, HEXDOC played a crucial role in recent rescue operations, such as the tunnel collapse incident in Uttarakhand, by providing rescue teams with accurate paths and routes to reach victims efficiently. Equipped with advanced sensing units for environmental analysis and victim detection, HEXDOC represents a significant leap in rescue technology.

Other notable projects included a cost-effective ‘Patrol Vehicle’ designed for low-current usage, a Paddle Horse bridging modern and ancient cultures, and an innovative replica of the Vikram Lander & Pragyan Rover. The expo also featured an AI-based Sugar Level Detector using human sweat, a dress-cum-carry bag for sustainable shopping, and an insect bio-robot aimed at crop protection.

Furthermore, projects like Rapid Roots, a supplement for agricultural growth developed by LPU students, showcased the university’s commitment to addressing real-world challenges through innovation.

The INNOTEK Expo not only celebrated the achievements of LPU’s incredible minds but also inspired the next generation of innovators to think big and pursue their ideas relentlessly. As LPU continues to foster a culture of innovation and creativity, it remains at the forefront of producing change-makers poised to make a positive impact on society.

Innovation knows no bounds at LPU, where students are encouraged to push the boundaries of what’s possible and emerge as leaders in their respective fields. With the success of the INNOTEK Expo 2024, LPU reaffirms its position as a beacon of innovation in higher education.
