In a notable tribute to environmental stewardship, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana, has been awarded the prestigious Shaheed Bhagat Singh State Annual Environment Award for 2024. The accolade, presented by Minister Balkar Singh, was celebrated during the Independence Day festivities in Ludhiana.
Dr. Satbir Singh Gosal, Vice Chancellor of PAU, accepted the honor on behalf of the university. The award recognizes PAU’s outstanding efforts in enhancing and preserving the environment. It includes a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh, a certificate of appreciation, and a silver plate.
PAU has garnered this recognition for its proactive measures under its “Clean and Green Campus Drive.” The university has implemented a series of eco-friendly initiatives such as groundwater recharging, the introduction of e-rickshaws, and innovative crop residue utilization practices. Additionally, PAU has made significant strides in energy conservation through the installation of a one-megawatt solar power plant.
The university’s comprehensive approach reflects a commitment to sustainability and sets a benchmark for other institutions aiming to contribute to environmental protection.
