Amidst the grandeur of the Passing Out Parade at the Indian Naval Academy Ezhimala, Kerala, a momentous chapter unfolded as Sub Lieutenant Saksham Gupta, an alumnus of Innocent Hearts School, Jalandhar, was commissioned as an officer in the esteemed Indian Navy on May 25, 2024. This milestone not only marks a personal triumph for Gupta but also stands as a testament to the school’s legacy of nurturing exceptional talent.

In a state where dreams soar as high as the Himalayas, only four individuals from Punjab were selected for this prestigious honor, with Saksham Gupta emerging as the lone representative from Jalandhar. The parade, a spectacle of discipline and valor, was reviewed by Air Chief Marshal VR Choudhary, PVSM AVSM, under whose discerning gaze Gupta was granted a permanent commission in the Indian Navy.

Hailing from the vibrant streets of New Jawahar Nagar, Gupta embodies the spirit of determination and resilience. His father, Mr. Ajay Gupta, a respected businessman, and his mother, Mrs. Bharti Gupta, an esteemed educator heading the Mathematics Department at Innocent Hearts School, have been the pillars of unwavering support throughout his journey. Alongside him stands his sister, Tanusha Gupta, a bright scholar following in her brother’s illustrious footsteps.

Gupta’s trajectory to naval excellence began with his formative years at Innocent Hearts School, Green Model Town, Jalandhar. Fuelled by ambition and guided by mentors, he ventured into the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Armed Forces Preparatory Institute, Mohali, Punjab, where he honed his skills for two transformative years. His stellar performance in the UPSC-NDA exam and the subsequent SSB interview, culminating in an impressive All India Rank of 274, underscored his unwavering commitment to excellence.

His odyssey continued at the Indian Naval Academy, where Gupta immersed himself in four years of rigorous military training and academic pursuit, earning a coveted B.Tech degree. As the sun dipped below the horizon on the Divine Day of the Passing Out Parade, Gupta paid homage to his instructors at the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Armed Forces Preparatory Institute, acknowledging their pivotal role in shaping his destiny.

In the jubilant embrace of achievement, the Principal of Innocent Hearts School, Shri Rajeev Paliwal, and Deputy Director of Cultural Affairs, Smt Sharmila Nakra, extended heartfelt congratulations to Sub Lieutenant Saksham Gupta and his proud parents. Dr. Anup Bowry, Chairman of Innocent Hearts, lauded Gupta’s illustrious journey, expressing profound pride in his alma mater’s role in shaping exemplary leaders. As Gupta embarks on his naval voyage, the echoes of his triumph resonate far beyond the shores of Jalandhar, illuminating the path for future aspirants to dream, aspire, and achieve against all odds.
