In a significant breakthrough, the Bathinda police have successfully dismantled an international drug trafficking gang, leading to the arrest of four individuals and the seizure of an astonishing amount of drug money totaling Rs 1.78 crore. The operation has exposed the intricate workings of a network that utilized drones to smuggle heroin from Pakistan and employed hawala channels to funnel the illicit proceeds back to an international trafficker, Kendraveer Singh, also known as Sunny Dayal, who currently resides abroad.
At a press conference held earlier today, SP (D) Ajay Gandhi disclosed the details of the operation, revealing the extensive web of criminal activities undertaken by the arrested individuals. The police have identified the main accused as Bikkar Singh from Paras Ram Nagar in Bathinda, Tara Chand Parik from Ludhiana, Simarjeet Singh alias Simar, and Harminder Singh alias Gullu, both hailing from Amritsar. Additionally, the international mastermind behind the operation, Kinderveer Singh, who resides in the USA, has also been implicated in the case but remains at large.
The modus operandi of this sophisticated criminal syndicate involved the use of drones to transport heroin from Pakistan into India, circumventing traditional border checks and surveillance. Once the drugs had been safely brought into the country, the gang would then use hawala channels to launder the drug money, ultimately sending it to Kinderveer Singh overseas. The involvement of multiple individuals in these activities highlights the intricacy and scale of the operation.
This operation to dismantle the international drug trafficking gang was initiated after the Anti-Gangster Task Force made significant arrests in a related case on July 24, 2023. Baljinder Singh alias Bindri, Baljinder Singh alias Ranch from Mahinangal in Talwandi Sabo, Manpreet Singh Mani from Mamdot in Ferozepur, and Gurpreet Singh Gora, also from Mamdot, were apprehended with a substantial haul of 270 grams of heroin. Additionally, the authorities seized a .30 bore foreign pistol and an Audi car during the operation.
Bikkar Singh’s involvement in the drug trade came to light during the subsequent investigation, leading to his inclusion in the FIR. Despite initially escaping law enforcement, he was apprehended in connection with an ATM robbery case in Agra a few days ago and subsequently brought to Bathinda on a production warrant.
Following Bikar Singh’s interrogation, the police identified Tara Chand Parik, Simarjeet Singh, Harminder Singh, and Kinderveer Singh as key players in the international drug trafficking network. While Bikkar Singh is now in custody, the hunt for Kinderveer Singh continues as authorities aim to bring all involved parties to justice.
The successful operation by the Bathinda police underscores their commitment to combating drug-related crimes and the extensive reach of international drug syndicates. The arrests and seizures send a clear message that such criminal activities will not be tolerated, and law enforcement agencies are dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of the community.
