Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) has achieved a remarkable feat, ranking among the top 9.3% of universities worldwide according to the 2024 edition of the outcome-based Global 2000 list released by the Centre for World University Ranking. This places GNDU at an impressive 1975th position out of a staggering 20,966 universities globally.

The ranking methodology considers four key areas: education, employability, faculty, and research. Notably, GNDU’s success stems from an analysis of 62 million data points, highlighting the university’s strong performance across these metrics.

Within Asia, GNDU holds a commendable 767th position. While employability and research rankings stand at 1541st and 1899th globally, respectively, these figures showcase the university’s commitment to preparing students for successful careers and fostering a vibrant research environment.

It’s important to recognize that GNDU stands out as the sole multi-specialty State University in the Northern Region (encompassing Jammu, Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Himachal Pradesh) to achieve such outstanding results.

Congratulating the entire university community, Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Jaspal Singh Sandhu acknowledged the tireless efforts of faculty, staff, researchers, and students in propelling GNDU to such international prominence.

“Our unwavering focus on high-quality education, impactful research, and ensuring excellent graduate employability has garnered this well-deserved recognition,” he stated.

Prof. Sandhu further highlighted the university’s significant improvement in its H-index, a metric that reflects research productivity and impact. GNDU’s H-index has risen remarkably from 64 to 145, boasting a significant number of highly cited papers within the top 10% on the Scopus database.

GNDU’s national reputation is equally impressive. The university’s 48th position in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) positions it among the elite institutions for higher education in India.

Adding to its accomplishments, GNDU has been accredited with the highest grade (“A++”) by NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) with a CGPA of 3.85 on a 4-point scale. Additionally, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has conferred upon GNDU the prestigious “University with Potential for Excellence” status.

Beyond academics, GNDU’s achievements extend to the sporting and cultural arenas. The university’s consistent success in national and international competitions contributes to its widespread popularity across the country.

This recognition by the Centre for World University Ranking serves as a testament to Guru Nanak Dev University’s dedication to academic excellence, fostering a well-rounded student experience, and establishing itself as a leader in higher education on a global scale.
