Empowering Tomorrow: A 100 Crore Boost for the Youth

by Parminder Singh Sodhi

In a bold move echoing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas,” a major new initiative was unveiled today to empower the youth of Delhi with advanced skills and education. The Ministry of Minority Affairs, in partnership with the Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at Gurudwara Shri Rakabganj Sahib, committing Rs 100 crore to a series of training and skill-building programs.

The landmark project is set to provide financial support to approximately 29,600 young individuals for skill training, while an additional 2,000 students will receive assistance for further education. Designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry requirements, the initiative aims to create a robust pipeline of employable talent, ensuring that financial hurdles do not impede the path to success.

Prominent leaders were present to mark the occasion. Union Minister of Minority Affairs, Shri Kiren Rijiju, alongside Delhi’s Industries Minister, Shri Manjinder Singh Sirsa, and senior DSGMC officials, highlighted the project’s potential to reshape the region’s employment landscape.

Speaking at the event, Minister Sirsa remarked, “This initiative is a historic step towards empowering the youth of Delhi and beyond. We are committed to breaking financial barriers and ensuring that every aspiring individual has access to the training they need to excel.”

Shri Kiren Rijiju added that the scheme is not just about financial aid; it also includes a stipend and comprehensive mentorship programs, along with job placement support. “The government’s commitment extends nationwide. We have set an ambitious target to skill approximately 31,600 youth initially, with plans to expand this program to all states,” he explained.

The initiative will roll out through a dedicated online portal, managed collaboratively by the DSGMC and the Ministry of Minority Affairs. Applicants will have their needs assessed against industry standards to ensure that the training and certification they receive is both relevant and effective.

Local DSGMC leaders, including President Harmeet Singh Kalka and General Secretary Jagdip Singh Kahlon, expressed their full support for the project. “We welcome this progressive step and assure our complete cooperation in its implementation,” they stated.

As the program gears up to launch, the focus remains on equipping the younger generation with the skills necessary to thrive in a competitive job market. With strong government backing and community involvement, this initiative is poised to not only transform individual lives but also contribute significantly to the nation’s economic development.
