In a celebration of cultural exchange and global understanding, Lovely Professional University (LPU) recently welcomed 12 students and faculty members from Australia’s Curtin University as part of its acclaimed ‘Incredible India’ program. Over the span of two enriching weeks, the participants delved deep into India’s diverse cultural heritage, offering them a comprehensive and immersive experience.
The ‘Incredible India’ program, hosted by the Division of International Affairs at LPU, is designed to promote internationalization and provide foreign students with a profound learning journey encompassing Indian culture, heritage, management, and technology. Notably, the program has gained significant popularity among students hailing from various corners of the globe, including Australia, Canada, the USA, and the UK, solidifying LPU’s position as one of the few Indian universities actively engaging with students from these nations.
Throughout the program, the Australian participants were introduced to a myriad of progressive concepts that define contemporary India. From the intricacies of Indian fashion and culinary arts to the soul-stirring beats of traditional dances, the participants gained insights into the rich social fabric, the art of Yoga and meditation, the nuances of vegetarianism, basics of the Hindi language, and the country’s historical evolution. Moreover, they were exposed to unique business trends and innovative management practices, including the art of “Juggad” business, epitomizing the spirit of resourcefulness.
The itinerary extended beyond classroom sessions as the students embarked on visits to historically significant places, including the iconic Golden Temple, the timeless Taj Mahal, the serene Tibetan Temple, and other cultural heritage sites that narrate the story of India’s multifaceted history.
Dr. Aman Mittal, Vice President and Head of the Division of International Affairs at LPU, emphasized the university’s commitment to providing an unforgettable and balanced experience for international learners. He stated, “We strive to ensure that our international learners have a memorable and balanced two-week camp that offers insights into both ancient and modern India. The program is designed to foster the internationalization of education and culture by providing diverse experiences.”
LPU takes great pride in being India’s most internationalized campus, with a melting pot of students from over 40 countries enrolled in more than 150 programs. Actively engaging in student exchange programs with esteemed institutions worldwide, including those in Australia, Canada, the USA, and the UK, LPU not only enriches the academic experience of its students but also contributes significantly to promoting cultural exchange and global understanding.
