The sprawling campus of Lovely Professional University (LPU) recently served as the vibrant stage for a celebration of India’s rich cultural tapestry during its annual mega cultural fest, ‘One India-2024’. With grandeur and spectacle, this 12th edition of the fest transformed the campus into a kaleidoscope of Indian culture and heritage, showcasing the unity amid diversity that defines the nation.
In a display of equality, diversity, and inclusivity, students from every corner of the country converged at LPU to exhibit the magnificence of their respective states. The air was filled with the spirit of camaraderie as they joined hands to celebrate the essence of being Indian.
The festival unfolded with a plethora of Indian festivals, rituals, cultures, traditions, dances, and songs, all presented with boundless mirth and fervor. Slogans reverberated through the campus, echoing the sentiments of oneness with chants like “Bharat Mata Kee Jai” and “Hum Sab Ek Haen”, underscoring the diverse yet unified identity of the nation.
The heart of the fest lay in its 29 exhibition stalls, each offering a glimpse into the rich heritage, art, and cuisine of India’s states and union territories. More than 25,000 students were captivated by the diverse array of products and handicrafts on display, fostering an appreciation for the cultural wealth of the nation.
Adding to the grandeur were 29 folk music and dance performances, along with a three-kilometer-long cultural procession that illuminated the essence of India’s cultural mosaic.
Under the theme of “Equality, Diversity, and Inclusivity,” this year’s fest aimed to celebrate the ethos that unites India. Students from across the nation, representing every state and union territory, came together not only to showcase their own heritage but also to embrace and learn from the myriad cultures present.
The festival was not just a celebration but also an opportunity for learning and collaboration. With over 4,000 LPU students participating, alongside international students from 40+ countries, the event showcased a harmonious blend of cultures, traditions, and perspectives. Through collaboration and exchange, the fest embodied the true spirit of a united India.
