  • According to sources, Pakistan’s intelligence agency, the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), along with Khalistani organizations, is allegedly involved in trapping such individuals and compelling them to engage in such activities.

Millions of people from India have been living in Canada on business or study visas. Among them, some individuals have allegedly been involved in criminal activities, bringing disrepute to their community and country. It is also alleged that such individuals are lured with money and used by Khalistani elements to create an atmosphere of terror in India. In fact, it is argued that compared to migrants settled in Punjab, some Indian Punjabis in Canada have been responsible for spreading greater unrest there.

Recently, three Punjabi individuals allegedly kidnapped a man and demanded a ransom of 200,000 US dollars, threatening to kill him if the money was not paid or if the police were involved. After the case came to the attention of the police, an investigation was launched. Following months of effort, the police arrested Harkirat Singh and Amritpal Singh, while another accused, Hasanpreet, managed to escape and remains under investigation. Weapons were also recovered from the scene.

This raises a serious question: how do young people who go to Canada for studies obtain weapons, and who are the individuals providing students and unemployed youth with money and arms to carry out crimes? According to sources, Pakistan’s intelligence agency, the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), along with Khalistani organizations, is allegedly involved in trapping such individuals and compelling them to engage in such activities. Therefore, it is suggested that the Canadian administration should investigate such networks and take strict action against them.

History bears witness that during British rule, when Punjabis first dreamed of going to Canada, they faced severe hardships and many even lost their lives. Today, however, the Canadian government has not only allowed Indians to enter the country but many Punjabis have settled there, contributed to Canada’s economic development, and attained high positions. Only a handful of individuals are allegedly involved in criminal activities that bring disgrace to the entire Punjabi community.

According to Gunjit Singh Bakshi, head of the Sikh Brotherhood International, such incidents will continue to occur unless Canadian police take strict action against those involved and the country’s legal system imposes severe punishment on offenders.
