Khalistani Turmoil: Pannu’s Threat to Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann

by Sudeep Singh

Khalistani supporter Gurpatwant Singh Pannu attended the inauguration ceremony of U.S. President Donald Trump, once again expressing his anti-India views and threatening Punjab’s Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. Pannu warned Mann that if he wasn’t careful, he might meet the same fate as former Chief Minister Beant Singh. This is not new for Indians; everyone knows that people like Pannu sit on foreign soil and spread anti-India propaganda, issuing threats to Indians, but none of them have the courage to make such statements within India.

Inviting people like Pannu to the U.S. presidential inauguration ceremony and giving them prominence sends a clear signal that foreign nations are indeed supporting people like Pannu, the Khalistanis, behind the scenes and using them against India. While this doesn’t have much impact directly, it does give an opportunity to anti-Sikh elements in India to spew venom against the Sikh community. However, no Sikh follower of the Guru has ever supported or can ever support Khalistan. If Sikhs had wanted to form Khalistan, they could have done so at the time of partition when the British government was offering Sikhs a separate state, just like it did to Hindus and Muslims.

Advisor to the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, Paramjeet Singh Chanduk, stated that they have consistently demanded action against Khalistani supporters from foreign governments. However, by inviting Gurpatwant Singh Pannu to the inauguration ceremony, foreign governments have clearly signaled that people like Pannu are active in countries like Canada and the U.S. with their support. Now, we appeal to the Government of India, especially the Prime Minister, to take this seriously and speak to the U.S. government to express their dissatisfaction, as the misleading statements from people like Pannu often lead young individuals in foreign countries, who are searching for jobs, to fall under their influence and spread hatred towards India.
