In a notable recognition of grassroots leadership, Narinder Kaur, the elected sarpanch of Chuggawan village, has been invited to serve as a special guest at the upcoming Republic Day celebrations in Delhi. The honor comes as a tribute to her transformative work in enhancing local infrastructure and improving access to essential services for residents of her community.
Under Kaur’s strategic leadership, Chuggawan has seen substantial development initiatives, most notably the successful implementation of a comprehensive water supply scheme. In a collaborative effort with the Water Supply and Sanitation Department, this project now provides clean drinking water to nearly 497 households, benefiting approximately 2,700 villagers. Additionally, the initiative supports the operations of three Anganwadi centres and two government schools, thereby reinforcing the community’s health and educational foundations.
Beyond the water project, Kaur has championed several other community enhancements that have significantly uplifted the quality of life in Chuggawan. A newly created park adjoining the waterworks has quickly become a cherished recreational hub for locals. Moreover, in a move aimed at bolstering transparency and accountability, every household in the village now displays clearly marked nameplates with the name of the household head and the designated water connection number. Regular monthly meetings further ensure the smooth management and continuous improvement of these vital services.
Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal lauded Kaur’s innovative approach and unwavering dedication, remarking, “Her leadership has significantly improved the lives of the people in Chuggawan. She has set an inspiring example by prioritising essential services and community welfare.” Sarangal emphasized that the district administration remains committed to recognizing the contributions of individuals and organizations that drive positive change at the grassroots level.
Expressing her gratitude, Narinder Kaur stated, “It is an honour to represent Chuggawan and Moga at the Republic Day celebrations in Delhi. This recognition motivates me to continue working for the betterment of my village.” Her remarks underscored not only her personal dedication but also the broader impact of her initiatives on community development.
As she prepares to travel to Delhi, Kaur’s participation in the national event serves as an inspiration for leaders across the region. Her work in Chuggawan exemplifies how local governance can effect meaningful change, setting a model for other communities to follow in their pursuit of enhanced living standards and robust civic infrastructure.
