Ludhiana’s Rising Star: Amulya Dhawan Shines with 99% in CISCE Class 12

In a remarkable display of academic excellence, Ludhiana’s own Amulya Dhawan has emerged as one of the country’s highest scorers in the recent class 12 examinations conducted by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE). With an impressive 99 per cent aggregate, Amulya stands as a testament to dedication and passion for learning.

Hailing from Sat Paul Mittal School, Dugri, Amulya’s stellar achievement is a beacon of inspiration for students across the nation. Notably, she is not alone in her triumph. Rayansh Gupta, another bright mind from the same school, secured an outstanding 99.6 per cent in the class 10 exams, further underscoring the institution’s commitment to nurturing academic brilliance.

Amulya’s journey to success, however, was not without its challenges. Despite her exceptional performance in the humanities stream, she faced societal stereotypes that often downplay the significance of this field. In a conversation about her aspirations, Amulya expressed her desire to pursue a career in journalism and writing. Yet, she encountered resistance from both family and educators who advocated for more ‘conventional’ paths like science or commerce.

“I would now pursue English and Media Studies at Ashoka University as I aim to be a journalist or explore policy-making. I am interested in writing and print journalism,” Amulya shared, reflecting on her passion for the craft. Despite initial hesitations from her parents, who own a dyeing unit, and discouragement from teachers, Amulya stood firm in her decision, driven by her love for subjects like history and geography.

“I managed to convince my parents to opt for humanities, but I was sad to see there were only eight students in my class. Even my teachers encouraged me to study commerce, but I had made up my mind. It’s always better to study something you enjoy than doing something without your heart in it,” Amulya affirmed, dispelling the myth that humanities lack prestige or opportunity.

Beyond academics, Amulya is a multifaceted individual, excelling in sports as a basketball player and showcasing her oratory skills. Remarkably, she achieved her academic prowess through self-study, eschewing the need for external tuition. Her advice to fellow students emphasizes the importance of leveraging school resources and maintaining a balanced approach to managing stress.

Amulya’s story serves as a poignant reminder that passion and perseverance are the true hallmarks of success. As she embarks on her journey towards journalistic endeavors, she embodies the spirit of resilience and determination, inspiring countless others to follow their dreams against all odds. In celebrating her achievements, we celebrate the indomitable spirit of youth and the boundless potential that lies within each of us.
