In a significant step towards fostering cutting-edge medical research, the Dr. B R Ambedkar State Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS) in Mohali and the CSIR-Institute of Microbial Technology (CSIR-IMTECH) in Chandigarh have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today. This partnership aims to facilitate collaborative efforts in research, training, and projects within the healthcare domain, marking a pivotal moment for medical academia in the region.

The signing ceremony, graced by prominent figures from both institutions, highlighted the shared commitment to advancing medical knowledge and practice beyond conventional boundaries. Dr. Bhavneet Bharti, Director Principal of AIMS Mohali, emphasized the transformative potential of this collaboration, particularly in offering medical students multidimensional exposure crucial for their holistic development.

“It has been seen that adherence to academic textbooks and the atmosphere of hospitals limits the medical students from engaging in activities beyond the medical curriculum,” noted Dr. Bharti, shedding light on the existing constraints in medical education. However, with this partnership, avenues for elective postings for third-year medical students have expanded, aligning with the latest guidelines set by the National Medical Commission (NMC). These elective courses, tailored to students’ interests and academic goals, promise a dynamic learning environment conducive to personal and professional growth.

The ceremony witnessed the presence of key figures from both AIMS Mohali and CSIR-IMTECH, signifying a united effort towards advancing medical research. Notable attendees included Dr. Sanjeev Khosla, Director of IMTECH, alongside Dr. Karthikeyan Subramanian, Dr. Dibyendu Sarkar, and Mr. Manuj Tripathi from CSIR-IMTECH. From AIMS Mohali, Director Principal Dr. Bhavneet Bharti, Medical Superintendent Dr. Navdeep Singh Saini, and several esteemed faculty members graced the occasion.

Following a comprehensive presentation outlining the scope and objectives of the collaboration, the ceremonial signing of the MoU marked a momentous step forward. The exchange of documents symbolized the formalization of a partnership poised to catalyze groundbreaking research and innovation in healthcare. The event concluded with a vote of thanks, underscoring the shared vision and commitment of both institutions towards advancing medical science and patient care.

This collaboration between AIMS Mohali and CSIR-IMTECH holds immense promise in driving transformative change in medical education and research. By synergizing expertise and resources, the two institutions are poised to pioneer new frontiers in healthcare, ultimately benefiting students, researchers, and society at large. As they embark on this collaborative journey, the future of medical innovation in the region shines brighter than ever before.
