Uttar Pradesh witnessed a remarkable display of talent as Punjab universities shone in the recently concluded Khelo India University Games. Four universities from Punjab showcased their prowess and secured the top positions in the final medal tally.
Emerging as the frontrunner, Panjab University, Chandigarh, clinched the title of overall champion, displaying exceptional skills and determination. Not far behind, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, claimed the runner-up position, making Punjab proud.
Punjabi University, Patiala, showcased a commendable performance and secured the fourth position in the highly competitive games. Similarly, Guru Kashi University, Damdama Sahib, demonstrated its sporting prowess and claimed the fifth position, solidifying Punjab’s dominance in the event.
Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer, the Sports Minister, extended heartfelt congratulations to the victorious players and universities for their tremendous achievements in the competition. The exceptional performances showcased by these institutions exemplify their commitment to sports and the dedication of their athletes.
In the final medal tally, Panjab University emerged as the clear leader, capturing an impressive total of 69 medals. They secured 26 gold medals, 17 silver medals, and 26 bronze medals. Guru Nanak Dev University closely followed with an impressive haul of 68 medals, including 24 gold, 27 silver, and 17 bronze. Punjabi University secured 34 medals, comprising 12 gold, 14 silver, and 8 bronze. Notably, Guru Kashi University won 28 medals, including 9 gold, 10 silver, and 9 bronze.
The outstanding performances by these universities in the Khelo India University Games are a testament to the thriving sporting culture and exceptional talent pool in Punjab.
