In a remarkable display of precision and determination, Batala shooter Kanwar Himmat Singh Goraya captured a bronze medal in the prestigious Big Bore 300m Open Shooting Championship held last week at the renowned Infantry School in Mhow. The championship, organized by the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) in collaboration with the Army Marksmanship Unit, showcased some of the country’s finest shooting talents.

Goraya, widely recognized as one of the promising talents emerging from the region, added another accolade to his growing list of achievements. His recent success follows a commendable bronze medal win at the Indian Open Shooting Championship in Bhopal last year, highlighting his consistent performance on the national stage. Additionally, his impressive haul of three gold and two silver medals at a district-level competition in Gurdaspur further cements his reputation as a dedicated and skilled marksman.

Alongside his sporting endeavors, Kanwar Himmat is also pursuing a law degree at Guru Nanak Dev University in Amritsar. Despite balancing academics with his rigorous training schedule, his achievements underscore a steadfast commitment to excellence both in and out of the shooting range. The pride in his lineage is evident as he carries forward the legacy of his father, national awardee Harmanjit Singh Goraya, whose influence and support have been instrumental in shaping his career.

Reflecting on his journey and ambitions, Goraya stated, “Dream as big as you can dream and nothing is impossible. My ultimate aim is to represent the country in international meets. Credit goes to my coaches and parents who have always encouraged me.” His words resonate with a sense of purpose and aspiration, embodying the spirit of a young athlete determined to leave his mark on the international stage.

As the nation celebrates his latest achievement, Kanwar Himmat Singh Goraya stands as a symbol of emerging talent and unwavering dedication, promising a bright future for Indian shooting sports on the global platform.
