ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਦੇਸ਼-ਵਿਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਗਾੜੇ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਅਕਸ ਲਈ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰ ਕੌਣ?
ਜਿਸ ਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡੇ ਦੇਸ਼ ਭਗਤ ਤੇ ਦੇਸ਼ ਦੇ ਰਾਖੇ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਸੀ, ਜਿਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਾ ਸਿਰਫ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਪੂਰੀ ਸਰਦਾਰੀ ਸੀ, ਸਗੋਂ ਬਾਕੀ ਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੱਸਦੀਆਂ ਸਭ ਕੌਮਾਂ ਨਾਲ਼ੋਂ ਸਿੱਖ ਵੱਧ ਖੁਸ਼ਹਾਲ ਸਨ। ਅੱਜ ਉਸੇ ਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਿੱਖ ਲੀਡਰਸ਼ਿਪ ਦੀ ਸੌੜੀ ਰਾਜਨੀਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਇੱਕ ਛੋਟੇ ਜਿਹੇ ਸੈਕਸ਼ਨ ਦੀ ਹਿੰਸਾ ਤੇ ਨਫ਼ਰਤ ਦੀ ਰਾਜਨੀਤੀ ਨੇ ਸਾਰੀ ਸਿੱਖ ਕੌਮ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਤਵਾਦੀ ਤੇ ਵੱਖਵਾਦੀ ਬਣਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। ਅੱਜ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ੱਕ ਦੀ ਨਿਗ੍ਹਾ ਨਾਲ਼ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਜਾਣ ਲੱਗਾ ਹੈ?
ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹੀ ਸੌੜੀ, ਹਿੰਸਕ ਤੇ ਨਫ਼ਰਤ ਦੀ ਰਾਜਨੀਤੀ ਵਾਲ਼ੀ ਲੀਡਰਸ਼ਿਪ ਨੇ ਹੁਣ ਵਿਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ੱਕੀ ਬਣਾਉਣਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। ਪਿਛਲੇ 40-50 ਸਾਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਿਹਨਤ ਤੇ ਲਿਆਕਤ ਨਾਲ਼ ਵਿਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੜਾ ਸਤਿਕਾਰਤ ਸਥਾਨ ਬਣਾ ਲਿਆ ਸੀ। ਜਿਸ ਤੇ ਇਹ ਲੋਕ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਆਪ-ਹੁਦਰੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ਼ ਪੋਚਾ ਫੇਰਨ ਤੇ ਲੱਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ।
ਜੂਨ 1985 ਦੇ ਏਅਰ ਇੰਡੀਆ ਜਹਾਜ ਕਾਂਡ ਨਾਲ਼ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਤੇ ਲੱਗੇ ਅੱਤਵਾਦੀ ਹੋਣ ਦੇ ਧੱਬੇ ਅਜੇ ਧੋ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਨਿੱਤ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਚੌਧਰ ਅਤੇ ਗੋਲਕ ਤੇ ਕਬਜ਼ੇ ਦੀਆਂ ਲੜਾਈਆਂ, ਅੰਤਰ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਹੁੱਲੜਬਾਜ਼ੀਆਂ, ਨਿੱਤ ਡਰੱਗ ਤਸਕਰੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਫੜ੍ਹ ਹੋ ਰਹੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਨੌਜਵਾਨ, ਗੈਗਵਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਦੂਜੇ ਦੇ ਹੋ ਰਹੇ ਕਤਲ, ਹਰ ਗ਼ੈਰ ਇਖਲਾਕੀ ਤੇ ਗੈਰ ਸੰਵਿਧਾਨਕ ਢੰਗਾਂ ਨਾਲ਼ ਰਾਜਨੀਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਾਖਲੇ ਤੇ ਇਮੀਗਰੇਸ਼ਨ ਫਰਾਡ ਨਾਲ਼ ਸਾਰੀ ਕੌਮ ਦਾ ਸਿਰ ਨੀਵਾਂ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
ਇਹ ਲੋਕ ਹੁਣ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਕੁਝ ਸਮੇਂ ਤੋਂ ਫਰੀਡਮ ਆਫ਼ ਸਪੀਚ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੇ ਆਮ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਆਵਾਜ਼ ਦਬਾਅ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਗੱਲ ਕਹਿਣ ਤੋਂ ਰੋਕਣ ਲਈ ਸੋਸ਼ਲ ਮੀਡੀਆ ਤੇ ਧਮਕੀਆਂ, ਅਸ਼ਲੀਲ ਸ਼ਬਦਾਵਲੀ, ਗਾਲ਼ੀ-ਗਲੋਚ, ਕਿਰਦਾਰਕੁਸ਼ੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਪਿੱਛੇ ਜਿਹੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਵਿਦਵਾਨ ਅਜਮੇਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਇੱਕ ਵੀਡੀਓ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਭਾਈ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਸੋਸ਼ਲ ਮੌਡੀਆ ਦੀ ਟਰੌਲ ਆਰਮੀ ਦੇ ਮੋਹਰੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੀ, ਜੋ ਉੱਪਰ ਦੱਸੀਆਂ ਕਾਰਵਾਈਆਂ ਨਾਲ਼ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੰਗ ਪ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਾਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਵਿਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੁਜ਼ਾਹਰਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੇ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਭੰਨ-ਤੋੜ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਜਾਇਜ ਨਹੀਂ ਠਹਿਰਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ? ਹਿੰਸਾ ਤੇ ਨਫਰਤ ਦੀ ਰਾਜਨੀਤੀ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਵਰਗੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੱਸਦੀ ਛੋਟੀ ਜਿਹੀ ਘੱਟ-ਗਿਣਤੀ ਦੇ ਕਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਿੱਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ?
ਦੇਸ਼-ਵਿਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣੀ ਕਮਿਉਨਿਟੀ ਦੇ ਇਸ ਛੋਟੇ ਜਿਹੇ ਸੈਕਸ਼ਨ ਵਲੋ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਜਾ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹਿੰਸਕ ਕਾਰਵਾਈਆਂ ਤੇ ਹੁੱਲੜਬਾਜ਼ੀ ਨੂੰ ਅਸੀ ਬੇਸ਼ਕ ਅੱਖੋ ਪਰੋਖੇ ਕਰ ਵੀ ਦੇਈਏ, ਪਰ ਸਾਰੀ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ, ਮੀਡੀਆ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸਾਡੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਜੋ ਦੇਖ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨਾਲ਼ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੇ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਸਾਰੇ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਪੈ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸਨੂੰ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਰੋਕੋਗੇ? ਸਤੰਬਰ 2001 ਵਿੱਚ ਅਮਰੀਕਾ ਅੰਦਰ ਇਸਲਾਮਿਕ ਅੱਤਵਾਦੀਆਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਕੀਤੇ ਹਮਲਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਤੇ ਪੱਗ ਕਾਰਨ ਕਈ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਤੇ ਨਸਲੀ ਹਮਲੇ ਹੋਏ ਸਨ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਪੱਗਾਂ ਵਾਲ਼ੇ ਤਾਲੀਬਾਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਦੇਖਦੀ ਸੀ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਫ਼ਰਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕੀ। ਉਹ ਸਭ ਮੀਡੀਏ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੁਸਲਿਮ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਜੋ ਲੋਕ ਦੇਖ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ, ਉਸਦਾ ਅਸਰ ਸੀ। ਜਿਹੜੇ ਲੋਕ ਵਿਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ 1980 ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਆਏ ਸਨ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਸਲੀ ਹਮਲਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਅਕਸਰ ਸਾਹਮਣਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਸੀ। ਹੌਲ਼ੀ ਹੌਲ਼ੀ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਮਿਹਨਤ ਨਾਲ਼ ਆਪਣਾ ਅਕਸ ਸੁਧਾਰਿਆ ਸੀ। ਪਰ ਜਿਸ ਪਾਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਅਸੀ ਦੁਬਾਰਾ ਤੁਰ ਪਏ ਹਾਂ, ਉਸਦੇ ਨਤੀਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਚੰਗੇ ਨਹੀ ਨਿਕਣਗੇ? ਸਾਡੇ ਚੁੱਪ ਰਹਿਣ ਨਾਲ਼ ਮਸਲੇ ਹੱਲ ਨਹੀ ਹੋਣਗੇ, ਸਗੋ ਹੋਰ ਉਲਝਣਗੇ?
ਇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੋਈ ਸ਼ੱਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਿ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ 5-7% ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਲੋਕ ਸ਼ਾਮਿਲ ਨਹੀਂ। ਪਰ ਬਹੁ-ਗਿਣਤੀ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਚੁੱਪ-ਚਾਪ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਰਤਾਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਖੀ ਜਾਣ ਅਤੇ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਸਿਰਜੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਗਲਤ ਬਿਰਤਾਂਤਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਗੁੰਮਰਾਹ ਹੋਣ ਨਾਲ਼ ਸਭ ਦਾ ਨੁਕਸਾਨ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
ਜੇ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਰਤਾਰਿਆਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਸੋਚਣਾ ਵਿਚਾਰਨਾ ਜਾਂ ਕੁਝ ਕਰਨਾ ਨਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕੀਤਾ ਤਾਂ ਹਾਲਾਤ ਵਿਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ ਸਾਡੇ ਲਈ ਸੁਖਾਵੇਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿਣੇ …? ਇੰਡੀਆ ਵਿੱਚ ਤਾਂ ਅਸੀਂ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਸਮੱਸਿਆਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਦੋਸ਼ ਸਰਕਾਰਾਂ ਜਾਂ ਏਜੰਸੀਆਂ ਸਿਰ ਮੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਸੁਰਖੁਰੂ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਾਂ। ਵਿਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੋਸ਼ ਕਿਸਨੂੰ ਦੇਵਾਂਗੇ? ਵਿਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਿਹੜੀਆਂ ਏਜੰਸੀਆਂ ਸਿਰ ਭਾਂਡਾ ਭੰਨਾਂਗੇ…?
English Translation
Sikhs were once revered as staunch patriots and protectors, their prosperity and influence were unparalleled compared to other communities. However, today, the community is facing a different narrative. The narrow political manoeuvring of some Sikh leaders, coupled with a small section resorting to violence and hatred, has unfortunately cast a shadow over the entire Sikh community, painting them inaccurately as terrorists and separatists. It is troubling to see that Sikhs, once widely respected, are now viewed with unwarranted suspicion.
The rise of violent and hate-driven political leadership has begun to cast a shadow of suspicion on Sikhs, even beyond their homeland. Over the past 40 to 50 years, Sikhs have earned a highly respected position in foreign countries through their hard work and talent. Unfortunately, these achievements are now being overshadowed by the actions of those who are intent on sowing discord.
The stain of terrorism on Sikhs associated with the Air India plane incident in June 1985 has not yet been washed away, and daily fights over money boxes and control in gurudwaras, international students’ hooliganism, Sikh youths being caught in drug smuggling, killings in gang wars, unscrupulous and unconstitutional entrances into politics, and immigration fraud are bringing shame to the entire community.
These people have been suppressing the voice of the general public in the name of freedom of speech for some time now. Threats on social media, obscene language, slurs, and character assassination are being used to stop people from speaking their minds. As Sikh scholar Ajmer Singh mentioned in one of his videos, Bhai Amritpal Singh was involved in a troll army, which harasses people with the aforementioned actions. Can the division and discord, being spread in the name of protests abroad be justified in any way? Can the politics of violence and hatred ever be in the interest of a small, numerically minor community like the Sikhs, scattered all over the world?
We could indeed scrutinize the violent actions and hooliganism being committed by this small section of our community in India and abroad, but how will you counter the impact it’s having on the perception of all Sikhs, which the world is forming through media? How…?
