In a display of youthful initiative and social responsibility, 15-year-old Aditya Pahwa is set to merge his passions for music and community service in a groundbreaking way. The young student, who recently concluded his Class X board exams, is all set to perform live with his band ‘Udaan’ on April 5 at the Paragon Waterfront. But this concert is more than just an evening of melodies—it’s a heartfelt fundraiser aimed at providing prosthetic limbs to those in need.
Aditya, whose talents extend well beyond the classroom and the football field, has been deeply involved in humanitarian work since a tender age. Inspired by his mother’s dedication to the ‘Do Good Foundation’—an NGO devoted to educating and uplifting underprivileged children—Aditya began lending his support when he was just 11 years old. His grandfather, industrialist Onkar Singh Pahwa, recalls how the seeds of compassion were sown early in the young prodigy’s life.
The idea for ‘Udaan’ came after an unexpected encounter that struck a chord with Aditya and his friends. “One evening, after his music class, Aditya and a friend paused at a gurdwara to pick up his mother. They witnessed a man struggling to walk with only one leg, relying on a bamboo stick for support,” Onkar explained. The image left a lasting impact on the group, prompting them to draw inspiration from a television segment on innovative prosthetics. They learned about Fupro—a company developing advanced prosthetic limbs noted for their durability and the ability to support up to 10,000 steps a day, significantly enhancing mobility and opening doors to employment.
Determined to make a difference, Aditya and his friends—Uddhav Kapoor, Anahitaa Jain, Amaya Sahni, Trishir Aggarwal, and his younger brother Krishnav—channeled their energies into creating ‘Udaan’. The band, representing not only musical talent but also a beacon of hope for the underprivileged, plans to collaborate with children from both ‘Do Good Foundation’ and ‘Act Humane’ during the fundraiser.
Onkar Singh Pahwa, Managing Director of Avon Cycles, expressed his admiration for his grandson’s commitment: “Udaan is not just a band; it is a movement of young hearts coming together for a noble cause. Their goal is to raise funds that will help restore mobility to those who have been deprived of it due to financial constraints.”
As the community eagerly awaits the concert, Aditya’s initiative serves as a stirring reminder that age is no barrier when it comes to creating positive social change. With ‘Udaan’, these young changemakers are tuning into a future where music not only entertains but also transforms lives.
