Seven-Year-Old’s Marathon Mission Against Drugs and Pollution

by Manjari Singh

In a remarkable display of determination and youthful activism, seven-year-old Mohabbat from Killianwali village is embarking on an ambitious 1,062-kilometer run to Ayodhya, the sacred city of the Ram Mandir in Uttar Pradesh. His mission: to spread awareness against drug abuse and environmental degradation.

Mohabbat, the son of Rinku, a dedicated local hairdresser, is no stranger to long-distance running. Last December, the young prodigy completed a 215-kilometer trek from Abohar to Ludhiana over six days. During that journey, he was inspired by Anmol Kawatra, a passionate social activist focused on children’s welfare. This encounter ignited Mohabbat’s commitment to making a broader impact, leading him to intensify his training regimen to running 10-12 kilometers daily.

Today marked the commencement of his latest venture with a heartfelt ceremony at Balaji Dham. Father and son received blessings from Priest Nand Kishore Shastri before setting off on the monumental journey. Rinku shared memories of meeting MLA Sandeep Jakhar at his Panjkosi residence after the previous run, where he was encouraged to undertake a more significant challenge. This support has fueled their current endeavor.

The ceremony drew a large crowd, with hundreds of well-wishers gathering to offer their support and encouragement. As Mohabbat prepares to leave, the community’s enthusiasm underscores the collective hope that his efforts will inspire others to join the fight against addiction and environmental harm.

Throughout his journey, Mohabbat plans to stay overnight at various religious sites, allowing him to rest and continue his mission each morning. Along the way, he intends to engage with communities by organizing small gatherings at schools and village chaupals (community centers). These meetings aim to educate people about the dangers of drug addiction, promote sustainable agricultural practices by discouraging the burning of crop residue, and advocate for the use of homemade manure to preserve the environment.

The initiative has garnered support from notable figures, including members of the Border Security Force. Commandant KN Tripathi, Deputy Commandant Gurdeep Singh, and Vipul Halder extended their best wishes to Mohabbat. Commandant Tripathi lauded the young runner, describing him as “not just a small child, but a young soldier” poised to inspire the nation’s youth.

Mohabbat’s journey is more than a physical challenge; it is a beacon of hope and a call to action for communities across India. As he runs toward Ayodhya, his message resonates deeply, reminding all that even the youngest among us can lead the charge in building a healthier, drug-free, and environmentally conscious society.
