The Punjab Agro plant, established in 2004, is making significant strides with its red chili paste export initiative. The plant, which began exporting to Mexico in 2022, is now positioned as a pivotal player in the global market. Equipped with advanced machinery imported from Italy and Poland, the plant is set to revolutionize the local farming sector.
During a recent visit to the facility, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Senu Duggal expressed strong support for the project, highlighting its potential to transform the agricultural landscape of the district. Dr. Duggal encouraged local farmers to collaborate with Punjab Agro in cultivating tomatoes and red chilies. She emphasized that such collaboration would not only enhance farmers’ incomes but also contribute positively to the state’s economy.
Punjab Agro officials have noted that the plant boasts a significant processing capacity, handling up to 6,000 metric tons of tomatoes and 30 metric tons of red chilies daily. The company is actively purchasing red chilies from local farmers at a rate of Rs 28 per kilogram, with the processed produce being exported to various international markets.
Plant Head Subhash Choudhary and Manager Gurpreet Singh reassured farmers of their ongoing support throughout the entire process, from sowing to marketing. They urged interested farmers to reach out to Punjab Agro for assistance and guidance.
Dr. Duggal underscored the initiative’s potential to bring substantial improvements to farmers’ lives and reiterated the district administration’s commitment to supporting the project’s success. With its focus on innovation and local partnership, Punjab Agro is set to make a significant impact on both the agricultural sector and the broader economy of the region.
