Punjab Agricultural University Scholars Shine at International Congress

In a momentous triumph for Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), two exceptional scholars, Dr Loveleen Kaur and Mrs Shikha Sharma, have garnered international acclaim by clinching prestigious awards at the inaugural International Extension Education Congress. The Congress, themed on “Rural Transformation and Sustainable Agri-food System through Community Based Organization Oriented Extension Strategy,” was hosted by the Society of Extension Education at the Rajasthan Agricultural Research Institute, Jaipur, spanning from December 18 to 20, 2023.

Dr Loveleen Kaur, an esteemed alumna of the university and a former student of the Department of Extension Education and Communication Management, has been bestowed with the distinguished “Ganga Singh Chauhan Memorial Award.” This accolade recognizes her outstanding contributions to extension education, a testament to her dedication and scholarly achievements. During her pursuit of a Ph.D. degree, Dr Loveleen Kaur worked under the guidance of Dr Kanwaljit Kaur, a seasoned Professor in the Department of Extension Education and Communication Management at PAU.

On a parallel note, Mrs Shikha Sharma, currently a Ph.D. student in the same department, demonstrated her academic prowess by clinching the “Best Poster Presentation Award.” Her presentation, titled ‘Resource conservation and sustainable development through Indigenous traditional knowledge,’ captivated the audience and judges alike. Mrs Shikha Sharma is under the mentorship of Dr Kiranjot Sidhu, another luminary in the Department of Extension Education and Communication Management at PAU.

The recognition of these two scholars has not only elevated their individual profiles but has also brought immense pride to the entire PAU community. Dr Satbir Singh Gosal, Vice-Chancellor of PAU, expressed his delight and congratulated the scholars for their exceptional achievements. Dr Kiran Bains, the Dean of the College of Community Science, and Dr Kiranjot Sidhu, Head of the Department of Extension Education and Communication Management, joined in the accolades, commending the students for their exemplary representation on the international stage.

The triumph of Dr Loveleen Kaur and Mrs Shikha Sharma at the International Extension Education Congress underscores the commitment of PAU to academic excellence and its pivotal role in nurturing scholars who contribute significantly to the field of extension education. Their success serves as an inspiration for aspiring scholars and reinforces PAU’s standing as a beacon of knowledge and innovation in the agricultural education landscape.
