In a significant crackdown on cross-border arms trafficking, the special cell of Amritsar Rural Police has arrested three individuals allegedly involved in smuggling sophisticated weapons from Pakistan. Acting on precise intelligence inputs, police apprehended the suspects during a targeted raid at Tola Nangal village, leading to the seizure of a cache of arms and ammunition.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Sarabjit Singh alias Dani from Rokhe village, Gurpal Singh alias Heera of Dode village, and Jagjit Singh alias Jagga from Thathi Jaimal Singh. Authorities revealed that the trio had been in direct contact with Pakistan-based arms suppliers, known as Salman and Arman Jatt, using social media platforms to coordinate their operations.

Superintendent of Police (Rural) Maninder Singh stated that the special cell intercepted a Swift car—lacking a registration plate—during the raid. A thorough search of the vehicle uncovered three Austria-made Glock pistols, three .30 bore pistols, eight live cartridges, three mobile phones, and other incriminating materials. The discovery underscores a growing trend of advanced firearms being funneled into the region through cross-border networks.

“A case has been registered under the Arms Act at the Rajasansi police station. The accused will be presented in court to seek police remand for deeper interrogation,” said SSP Singh. Authorities hope the custodial interrogation will help trace both the upstream suppliers and downstream recipients of these illegal arms.

This latest arrest comes amid heightened security concerns over increasing attempts by foreign-based operatives to destabilize border regions in Punjab through illicit weapon channels. Police officials reiterated their commitment to dismantling such networks and ensuring the safety of the region.
