Khalsa College Emerges as Champion in the 8th Inter-Khalsa Colleges Youth Festival

The vibrant and culturally rich city of Amritsar witnessed a magnificent spectacle as Khalsa College emerged as the overall champion in the 8th Inter-Khalsa Colleges Youth Festival-2023. The two-day-long festival, organized by the Khalsa College Governing Council (KCGC), concluded on a high note, celebrating the talents and enthusiasm of students from 12 Khalsa Colleges. The event showcased an array of competitive performances, from traditional dances to debates and artistry.

Khalsa College, a renowned institution in the region, showcased remarkable talent and dedication, earning them the prestigious overall champion trophy. The Khalsa College for Women was celebrated as the overall first runner-up, and Khalsa College of Education, Ranjit Avenue, claimed the second runner-up position.

The festival was a vibrant and colorful affair, with hundreds of students from the participating colleges competing in various categories. The Gidda, Bhangra, and Jhoomer performances were a major highlight, drawing cheers from the audience. Additionally, folk regional dances, fine arts, poetry, debates, singing, skits, mono acting, poster-making, extemporaneous speaking, and paintings exhibited the diversity of talent among the students.

Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina, the honorary secretary of KCGC, graced the event as the chief guest during the valedictory function. His presence added significance to the occasion. Speaking at the event, Chhina highlighted the festival’s aim, which is to uncover the hidden talents among the students and motivate them to excel in various fields.

Chhina, along with Principal Dr. Surinder Kaur, awarded the trophies and prizes to the well-deserving winners. He emphasized that these winners serve as motivators for their peers to participate in various events and strive for excellence, fostering holistic personality development.

The performances of various colleges were highly appreciated, including Khalsa College of Education, G.T. Road; Khalsa College of Pharmacy; Khalsa College of Law; Khalsa College of Management and Technology, Mohali; and Sri Guru Teg Bahadur College for Women.

Dr. Surinder Kaur, Principal of Khalsa College, extended a warm welcome to the guests and expressed gratitude to all the Principals and the management team for making the event a grand success.

The festival boasted a panel of distinguished judges, including Dr. Rajesh Sharma, Dr. Ravjot Kaur, Dr. Harjit Singh, Rajbir Singh Malhi, Anu Lehal, Dr. Rimpy, Jobanjit Kaur, Mr. Kuldeep Singh, and Mrs. Monika Salariya, among others. Their expertise and discerning eyes ensured a fair evaluation of the participants’ performances.

The world of theatre came alive during the festival with the presence of renowned film and theatre artist Miss Aman Bal, director of Dastak Regd. Mr. Rajinder Singh, and distinguished Bollywood artist Mr. Arwindar Singh Bhatti. These industry experts guided and inspired the budding talents, helping them explore their potential on stage.

Additionally, Dr. Ranjit Singh, Assistant Professor in Chemistry at SR Government College for Women, Amritsar, orchestrated a captivating quiz competition, which tested the intellectual prowess of the participants.

The 8th Inter-Khalsa Colleges Youth Festival-2023 was a testament to the rich cultural heritage and the immense talent within the Khalsa College community. The event not only showcased the students’ abilities but also provided a platform for them to connect, learn, and grow. The dedication and enthusiasm displayed by the participants and the support of the entire Khalsa College community made this festival a grand success, leaving everyone eagerly awaiting the next edition.
