In a heartwarming tale of compassion and selflessness, Indian-origin social worker Iqbal Singh Bhatti has spent the past two decades tirelessly serving the Indian community in France by facilitating the repatriation of deceased individuals back to their homeland. Bhatti’s remarkable efforts have earned him numerous accolades, including seven gold medals, an award from the Government of India, and 11 certificates of honor from various institutions.

Bhatti’s journey of selfless service began with the founding of his organization ‘Aurore Dawn’, which has since played a pivotal role in providing a dignified farewell to those who have passed away far from their native land. Over the years, he has assisted in 371 cases, offering solace to grieving families during their most challenging times.

Among the 371 cases, Bhatti has undertaken two primary missions: arranging the repatriation of deceased individuals’ bodies to India and conducting the last rites right here in France. In doing so, he has ensured that cultural and religious traditions are upheld, providing comfort and closure to the bereaved families.

Of the 371 cases, 122 individuals have been cremated in France, allowing their loved ones to bid them farewell in the land they had come to call home. The remaining bodies were sent to their families in India, where their final rites were performed according to their customs and traditions.

One of the most remarkable aspects of Bhatti’s service is his commitment to ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder the repatriation process. In 99 cases, the Indian Embassy in France generously bore the expenses for individuals who could not afford to bring their loved ones back to India. This act of kindness exemplifies the spirit of unity and support within the Indian diaspora in France.

In recognition of his exceptional contributions, Bhatti has been honored with numerous awards, reflecting the deep appreciation of the Indian community and the authorities alike. His work has been instrumental in fostering a sense of belonging and unity among the Indian-origin population in France, providing solace to those enduring the pain of loss.

Even in the face of the unprecedented challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Bhatti’s commitment to his mission remained unwavering. The Indian Embassy in France recognized his dedication by presenting him with an honorary certificate during these trying times.

Iqbal Singh Bhatti’s remarkable journey from a compassionate social worker to a symbol of hope and support for the Indian community in France serves as a testament to the power of one individual’s determination to make a difference. His selfless service has touched the lives of countless families, ensuring that their loved ones are laid to rest with dignity and respect.
