by Manjari Singh

In a heartfelt tribute to one of India’s most respected leaders, Manjit Singh, a dedicated sculptor from Ghal Kalan in Moga, is creating a stunning bust of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. The sculpture, expected to be completed within the next two weeks, will find its home at Desh Bhagat Park, offering the community a lasting homage to the esteemed statesman.

Manjit Singh, who recently left his position as a senior gazetted officer in the Department of Archaeology and Museums to follow his passion for sculpture, has a remarkable portfolio. His previous works include lifelike representations of notable figures such as Lal Bahadur Shastri, Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Baba Bulleh Shah, and former President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. Each piece reflects his commitment to celebrating India’s rich heritage and its influential personalities.

“I am making this bust in recognition of the values that Dr. Manmohan Singh upheld throughout his career,” Manjit explained. “When I learned about his passing, I felt a profound sense of sadness. Dr. Singh was known for his unwavering honesty and integrity. Through this sculpture, I hope to honor his legacy and inspire others.”

The upcoming installation at Desh Bhagat Park is more than just an artistic endeavor; it is a symbol of enduring respect and admiration for Dr. Singh’s contributions to the nation. Manjit believes that even in his absence, Dr. Singh’s principles and leadership will continue to guide and motivate future generations.

Manjit’s decision to leave his government role underscores his dedication to art and his desire to give back to the community through his creative talents. His sculptures not only capture the likeness of these influential leaders but also embody the spirit and values they represented.

The unveiling ceremony for Dr. Manmohan Singh’s bust is anticipated to attract local dignitaries, residents, and admirers of both the sculptor’s work and the former Prime Minister’s legacy. As the community eagerly awaits the completion of this significant project, Manjit Singh’s latest creation stands as a testament to the power of art in preserving and honoring the memories of those who have shaped the nation.
