by Manjari Singh

In a vibrant celebration of the Parkash Purb of Guru Gobind Singh, devotees flocked to Harmandir Sahib, the spiritual heart of Sikhism. The sacred occasion witnessed a sea of Sangat, who thronged Darbar Sahib to perform darshan and immerse themselves in the divine vibrations of Gurbani Kirtan. The historic Sri Akal Takht Sahib and the serene Gurdwara Baba Atal Rai Sahib were adorned with enchanting lights, creating an ethereal atmosphere.

As part of the commemoration of the birth anniversary of the 10th Sikh Guru, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee orchestrated a profound bhog of Sri Akhand Path Sahib at Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib Diwan Hall. The religious Diwan that ensued featured the participation of ragi, dhadi, kwishar, preachers, and cult poets. They eloquently shared the life history of Guru Sahib, resonating with the devout sangat present.

Distinguished institutions echoed the spirit of the 357th Gurpurab of Guru Gobind Singh. The Khalsa College Charitable Society (KCCS) organized enlightening lectures on the teachings and philosophy of Guru Sahib. Simultaneously, students of Khalsa College Public School (KCPS) graced the occasion with soul-stirring kirtan, reciting hymns from Gurbani and verses extolling the greatness of the revered Guru.

The entire Gurdwara complex underwent a tasteful transformation, bedecked with vibrant buntings and fragrant flowers. Teachers, students, and staff members actively participated in the ardas (prayers) following the completion of the Akhand Path. The communal spirit continued as langar, the sacred community kitchen, served nourishing meals to the devoted attendees.

During the event, Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina, the honorary secretary of Khalsa College Charitable Society, delivered a powerful message to the youth. He urged them to embrace the timeless philosophy of Guru Gobind Singh, emphasizing its relevance in the tumultuous contemporary world.

The celebration was not just a testament to the rich cultural and spiritual heritage of Sikhism but also a call to embrace the teachings of Guru Gobind Singh in navigating the challenges of the present times. As the lights of devotion illuminated the night, the echoes of hymns and prayers reverberated, marking a joyous and spiritually enriching Parkash Purb celebration at Harmandir Sahib.
