Khalistani Leader Gopal Singh Chawla Abuses Pakistani Police Outside Nankana Sahib in Viral Video

A video has gone viral on social media in which Khalistani leader Gopal Singh Chawla is seen abusing Pakistani police outside the Nankana Sahib Gurudwara because the police did not allow his guest to cross the checkpoint. In the video, Chawla is seen repeatedly abusing a Pakistani cop in Punjabi and telling him that he would call top Pakistan Army officials to teach the cop a lesson. Chawla is also heard saying how a Pakistani cop could dare to stop his guest from entering the Gurudwara, despite a call from a Brigadier in the Pakistani Army. According to Gopal Chawla, his guest had to wait for an hour outside the holy shrine.

Chawla is the former chairman of the Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee. He is known for his provocative speeches promoting the idea of a separate Sikh state, which is why he is recognized as a Khalistani leader. Sources suggest that his name surfaced in the 2018 grenade attack on the Nirankari Bhawan in Amritsar. The attack killed three people and injured 20 others, carried out by two men on a bike. In 2018, Chawla posted a picture of himself on Facebook with cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu, taken during a ceremony at Kartarpur. However, Sidhu denied recognizing the pro-Khalistan separatist leader, clarifying that if any celebrity happened to stand next to him in a picture, it was not his fault. Nevertheless, this caused considerable controversy in India.

This incident makes it clear what the ideology of Khalistani supporters is and how far they are willing to go. Yet, it remains unclear why governments and administrations do not take action against them.
