Insult of the Indian Tricolor Will Not be Tolerated by India

by Sudeep Singh

The tricolor is our country’s national flag, made up of three distinct colors, and it has been granted the status of the national flag of the country. To maintain the honor and dignity of the tricolor, soldiers are stationed at the country’s borders. Among them, Sikh soldiers can be seen in the highest numbers, despite Sikhs making up only 2% of the population in India. When Sikh soldiers become martyrs, their bodies are wrapped in the tricolor because even in death, they cannot be separated from it. In such a situation, how can a Sikh insult the tricolor? However, there are supporters of Khalistan who, disguised in Sikh attire, insult the tricolor regularly. Recently, during the visit of Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar to England, a Khalistani supporter jumped in front of his car and insulted the tricolor, an act that deserves the harshest condemnation.

For some time now, there have been individuals demanding the separation of India and the creation of Khalistan, although they are very few in number and are residing abroad, promoting the idea of Khalistan from outside India. They lure young people who are struggling abroad to promote the Khalistani cause, but none of them have the courage to come to India and present their case. The main reason for this is that no Indian Sikh, far from wanting to take Khalistan, even entertains the thought. Khalistani supporters regularly threaten the country’s Prime Minister, Chief Ministers, and political leaders, but no administrative action is taken against them, which only boosts their confidence. However, now in Punjab, some organizations have called for the burning of Khalistani flags as a response in their own language. They have also stated that the government should identify the Khalistanis and confiscate their property, but unfortunately, despite complaints against them, no action is taken.
