In a strong display of India’s air defence strength and resilience, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Adampur Air Force Station early Tuesday morning. The highly publicized visit came in the wake of claims by Pakistan that its military had targeted and destroyed key Indian Air Force (IAF) installations during its recently launched Operation Sindoor — a claim Indian officials have firmly refuted.
Standing amid air warriors and soldiers at the sprawling Adampur base, PM Modi interacted with officers, hailed their courage, and affirmed India’s unwavering support for its armed forces. Chanting “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” from the grounds of one of India’s critical defence hubs, the Prime Minister made it unmistakably clear: Indian air bases are not only operational but thriving with high-profile activity.
The visit was significant, as Adampur was among the 26 sites Pakistan’s military claimed to have struck. However, subsequent satellite imagery and independent assessments have debunked those assertions. Indian military commanders reiterated Monday that all Air Force bases remain “completely secure,” a point further emphasized through Modi’s on-ground presence.
Sharing moments from his visit on social media platform X, Prime Minister Modi posted:
“Earlier this morning, I went to AFS Adampur and met our brave air warriors and soldiers. It was a very special experience to be with those who epitomise courage, determination and fearlessness. India is eternally grateful to our armed forces for everything they do for our nation.”
The Prime Minister’s Office also released photos and videos from Adampur shortly after Pakistan’s leading newspaper, Dawn, quoted Pakistani military spokesperson Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry claiming attacks on Indian aviation hubs like Suratgarh, Sirsa, Adampur, and Bhuj.
Other senior ministers and government officials also shared visuals from the visit, highlighting India’s unified front in countering misinformation from across the border.
Strategically important, Adampur Air Force Station is home to sophisticated air defence assets, including the Russian-made S-400 missile systems that played a crucial role in neutralizing incoming threats during Operation Sindoor. By choosing Adampur for his visit, the Prime Minister sent a direct and potent message about India’s preparedness and the impenetrability of its defence establishments.
In a tense atmosphere of claims and counter-claims, Prime Minister Modi’s Adampur visit was more than symbolic — it was a clear declaration of confidence in India’s military strength and an assertion that attempts to shake the morale of its forces would not succeed.
