Nine Mohali Cadets Commissioned into Indian Army and Air Force

A group of nine dedicated cadets from Mohali’s prestigious armed forces preparatory institutes have been formally commissioned into the Indian Army and Air Force, marking a significant milestone in their military careers.

Eight of the newly commissioned officers hail from the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Armed Forces Preparatory Institute (MRSAFPI) in SAS Nagar (Mohali). Among them are Kritin Gupta from Ludhiana; Bhart Sharma and Sahildeep Singh from Amritsar; Sahilpreet Singh Sandhu from Patiala; Shiv Kumar from Kapurthala; and Uttam Malik from Bathinda. These cadets received their commissions into the Indian Army during a solemn passing-out parade held at the esteemed Indian Military Academy (IMA) in Dehradun. The event was honored by the presence of Nepal Army Chief General Ashokraj Sigdel, who reviewed the parade.

In addition to the Army commissions, two cadets from MRSAFPI, Gursher Singh Cheema from Sangrur and Pratham Parmar from Kapurthala, were commissioned as Flying Officers in the Indian Air Force. Their induction took place at the 214th combined passing-out parade of the Air Force Academy (AFA) in Dundigal, which was reviewed by Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh, PVSM, AVSM, the Chief of the Indian Air Force.

The ninth officer, Arshdeep Kaur, was commissioned from the Mai Bhago Armed Forces Preparatory Institute (AFPI) for Girls in SAS Nagar. Flying Officer Kaur, who has been inducted into the Meteorology Branch of the Indian Air Force, is the daughter of Daljinder Pal Singh, a businessman from Khamano in Fatehgarh Sahib district. Her commissioning ceremony underscored the growing role of women in the Indian armed forces.

Major General Ajay H Chauhan, VSM (Retd), director of MRSAFPI, extended his heartfelt congratulations to the cadets, urging them to uphold the highest ideals of the defense services. Similarly, Major General Jasbir Singh Sandhu, AVSM (Retd), director of Mai Bhago AFPI for Girls, conveyed his best wishes to Flying Officer Arshdeep Kaur, expressing confidence in her promising future within the Indian Air Force.

Adding to the celebrations, Cabinet Minister of Employment Generation, Skill Development and Training Aman Arora lauded the cadets for their achievements. He encouraged them to continue their hard work and make the state of Punjab proud through their service to the nation.

The commissioning of these nine cadets not only highlights the excellence of Mohali’s armed forces preparatory institutes but also reinforces the commitment of the Indian military to nurturing and empowering young leaders dedicated to national defense.
