Punjab Athletes Shine Bright with a Record-Breaking 19 Medals at the Asian Games

In a historic triumph, athletes from the vibrant state of Punjab in India have etched their names in the annals of sports history by clinching a staggering 19 medals at the recently concluded Asian Games in Hangzhou, China. This remarkable achievement has not only made the nation proud but also shattered all previous records, showcasing Punjab’s burgeoning talent in the world of sports.

The Indian contingent at the Asian Games celebrated its best-ever performance, securing a total of 107 medals, which included an impressive tally of 28 gold, 38 silver, and 41 bronze medals. Remarkably, Punjab contributed significantly to this success story with its athletes bringing home eight gold, six silver, and five bronze medals.

The crowning glory of this achievement is the fact that it surpasses all previous records set during the 72-year history of the Asian Games. Previously, the most gold medals ever won by Punjabi athletes at the Asian Games were seven each in the 1951 New Delhi Games and the 1962 Jakarta Games. Additionally, the highest total medal count for Punjab athletes had been 15, a record set in the 1951 New Delhi Games.
