ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਤੇ ਧਰਮ, ਮਨੁੱਖੀ ਏਕਤਾ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਕ ਬਣਨ ਨਾ ਕਿ ਰਾਹ ਦਾ ਰੋੜਾ?
ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਭਰ ਦੇ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਸਮਾਜਾਂ ਤੇ ਫ਼ਿਰਕਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਚਰਦਿਆਂ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਉਂ ਮਹਿਸੂਸ ਹੋਇਆ ਕਿ ਅੱਜ ਜਦੋਂ ਸਾਰੀ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਇੱਕ ਗਲੋਬਲ ਵਿਲੇਜ ਬਣ ਚੁੱਕੀ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਖੁੱਲ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਅਜ਼ਾਦੀ ਨਾਲ਼ ਵਿਚਰਨ ਤੇ ਇੱਕ-ਦੂਜੇ ਨਾਲ਼ ਤਾਲਮੇਲ ਰੱਖਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਧਰਮ ਤੇ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਵੱਡਾ ਅੜਿੱਕਾ ਬਣ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।
ਇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੋਈ ਸ਼ੱਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਿ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਦੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਮੋੜ ਤੇ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਭਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਮੇਂ ਜਾਂ ਸਮਾਜ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਧਰਮਾਂ ਤੇ ਭਾਸ਼ਾਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ। ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਮਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਣਦਾ ਰੋਲ ਵੀ ਨਿਭਾਇਆ ਤੇ ਨਿਭਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
ਪਰ 21ਵੀਂ ਸਦੀ ਦਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ, ਜਿਸ ਮੁਕਾਮ ਤੇ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਚੁੱਕਾ ਹੈ, ਉੱਥੇ ਇਸਦਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਤੇ ਸਮੱਸਿਆਵਾਂ ਇੱਕ ਦੂਜੇ ਨਾਲ਼ ਜੁੜ ਚੁੱਕੇ ਹਨ। ਅੱਜ ਦੇ ਮਾਡਰਨ ਵਰਲਡ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਸੀ ਤਾਲਮੇਲ ਲਈ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਇੱਕ ਅਜਿਹੀ ਸਾਂਝੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ਼ ਸਾਰੇ ਇੱਕ ਦੂਜੇ ਨਾਲ਼ ਕਾਰਗਰ ਢੰਗ ਨਾਲ਼ ਸੰਪਰਕ ਕਰ ਸਕਣ। ਉੱਥੇ ਨਾਲ਼ ਹੀ ਧਰਮ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਨਿੱਜੀ ਆਸਥਾ ਤੱਕ ਹੀ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇਸਦਾ ਸਮਾਜ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਜਿਤਨਾ ਘੱਟ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ, ਉਤਨਾ ਹੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਸਮਾਜ ਸਾਂਝੇ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜਾਤੀ ਦੇ ਰੂਪ ਵਿੱਚ ਅੱਗੇ ਵੱਧ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਬੇਸ਼ਕ ਇਸਦਾ ਇਹ ਮਤਲਬ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਿ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਭਾਸ਼ਾਵਾਂ ਖਤਮ ਕਰ ਦੇਣੀਆਂ ਚਾਹੀਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਸਗੋਂ ਇਸਦਾ ਭਾਵ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਕੋਈ ਸਾਂਝੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਸਭ ਨੂੰ ਸਿੱਖਣੀ ਲਾਜ਼ਮੀ ਹੋਣੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ। ਨਾ ਹੀ ਇਸਦਾ ਭਾਵ ਇਹ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਸਾਰੇ ਧਰਮ ਖਤਮ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਜਾਣ।
ਜੇ ਧਰਮ ਮਨੁੱਖੀ ਆਸਥਾ ਤੱਕ ਸੀਮਤ ਰਹਿਣ ਤਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੇ ਸਮਾਜ ਦਾ ਵੱਧ ਭਲਾ ਹੈ। ਧਰਮ ਦੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਨਿੱਜੀ ਤੇ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਖਲਅੰਦਾਜੀ ਸਮੱਸਿਆਵਾਂ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।
ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਤਕਰੀਬਨ ਸਾਰੀ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਸਾਂਝੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਦੇ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਵਿਕਸਤ ਹੋ ਚੁੱਕੀ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਕਿਉਂ ਨਾ ਇਸਨੂੰ ਸਾਰੀ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੂਜੀ ਜਾਂ ਤੀਜੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਦੇ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਪੜ੍ਹਨਾ ਲਾਜ਼ਮੀ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਵੇ। ਇਸ ਨਾਲ਼ ਹੀ ਲੋਕ ਇੱਕ ਦੂਜੇ ਦੇ ਵੱਧ ਨੇੜੇ ਆ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ। ਮਨੁੱਖਤਾ ਦੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਜਿਆਦਾ ਵਿਕਸਤ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਪਰ ਖੇਤਰੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੀ ਇਸਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਡਰ ਦੇ ਅਧੀਨ ਮੰਨਣ ਤੋਂ ਇਨਕਾਰੀ ਹਨ। ਉਹ ਇਹ ਨਹੀ ਸਮਝਦੇ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਬਦਲਣ ਵਾਲ਼ਾ ਹੈ, ਕੁਝ ਵੀ ਸਦੀਵੀ ਨਹੀ, ਤਬਦੀਲੀ ਦੀ ਰਫ਼ਤਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਮੱਧਮ ਤਾਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਰੋਕਿਆ ਨਹੀ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਫ਼ਿਰਕਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਤਬਦੀਲੀ ਤੇ ਮਨੁੱਖੀ ਏਕਤਾ ਤੋਂ ਖਤਰਾ ਭਾਸਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਵੀ ਨਹੀ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਕਿ ਲੋਕ ਖੁੱਲ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਇੱਕ ਦੂਜੇ ਨਾਲ਼ ਮਿਲਣ ਵਰਤਣ ਜਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਕਰਨ।
ਇਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਆਪਣੇ-ਆਪਣੇ ਡੱਬਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੰਦ ਹਾਂ। ਮਲਟੀ ਕਲਚਰ ਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਭ ਨੂੰ ਅਜ਼ਾਦੀ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਅਸੀਂ ਇਸਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਦੂਜੇ ਨਾਲ਼ ਸਾਂਝ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਥਾਂ ਦੂਜਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਨਿਖੇੜਣ ਲਈ ਵਰਤਣਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਸਾਡੇ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਬਣਾਏ ਹੋਏ ਖਾਣ-ਪਹਿਨਣ, ਰਹਿਣ-ਸਹਿਣ, ਪ੍ਰੰਪਰਾਵਾਂ, ਮਰਿਯਾਦਾਵਾਂ ਆਦਿ ਇੱਕ ਦੂਜੇ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਨਹੀ ਲੱਗਣ ਦਿੰਦੇ।
ਧਰਮ ਸਾਡੇ ਲਈ ਸਾਡਾ ਕਿਰਦਾਰ, ਵਰਤੋਂ ਵਿਹਾਰ ਹੀ ਹੋਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਖਾਣ, ਪਹਿਨਣ, ਭਾਸ਼ਾ, ਮਰਿਆਦਾਵਾਂ, ਪਰੰਪਰਾਵਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਨਿਕਲਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਾਰੀ ਮਨੁੱਖਤਾ ਸਾਡੇ ਲਈ ਭਾਈ-ਭਾਈ ਹੋਣੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ। ਮਨੁੱਖਤਾ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਪਰ ਕੁਝ ਵੀ ਨਹੀ ਹੋਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ, ਨਾ ਧਰਮ, ਨਾ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ, ਨਾ ਦੇਸ਼, ਨਾ ਕੌਮ। ਇਹ ਸਾਰਾ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਸਾਡੇ ਸਭ ਲਈ ਸਾਂਝਾ ਹੋਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸਾਡੇ ਦੁੱਖ-ਸੁੱਖ ਸਭ ਦੇ ਸਾਂਝੇ ਹੋਣੇ ਚਾਹੀਦੇ ਨੇ। ਫਿਰ ਹੀ ਇਸ ਧਰਤੀ ਨੂਂ ਹੋਰ ਖ਼ੂਬਸੂਰਤ ਬਣਾ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਾਂ।
English Translation
In a world filled with diverse societies and factions, I felt that today, when the whole world has become a global village, it is important to foster harmony and integration with freedom and respect for each other’s religions and languages.
There is no doubt that throughout history, the birth of religions and languages has been essential for the needs of time and society. They have played and continue to play significant roles in shaping our lives.
However, in the 21st century, where humanity has reached a stage where its life and challenges are intertwined, a shared language is necessary to effectively communicate with one another. In addition, religion should be kept personal to an individual, as the less its influence on society, the more societies can progress beyond the boundaries of a particular religious group.
Certainly, this does not mean that all languages should be eradicated, but the idea is that a shared language should be learned by everyone. It does not imply the elimination of all religions either.
If religion remains confined to personal faith, it is better for both individuals and society. Religion’s intrusion into personal and social life creates various problems.
English has already developed as a shared language in almost all countries worldwide, so why not make it compulsory for everyone to learn a second or third language? This way, people can come closer to one another. Humanity can progress further with increased mutual understanding.
However, the lovers of regional languages are reluctant to accept this idea. They fail to understand that everything cannot remain the same in this changing world. The pace of change cannot be slowed down.
Similarly, religious factions also pose a threat to unity and change. They do not want people to freely interact and express their thoughts with one another.
Therefore, we have trapped ourselves in our own compartments. In multicultural societies, where freedom is for everyone, we have started isolating ourselves from one another.
Our customs, clothing, lifestyle, traditions, and values should not isolate us from one another. Religion should be our character and behavior, apart from which we should go beyond food, clothing, language, traditions, and customs.
Humanity as a whole should be considered as siblings. Nothing should be above humanity, not religion, language, country, or community. It should be shared by all of us. Our sorrows and joys should be shared. Only then can we make this Earth more beautiful.
