In a gesture aimed at fostering educational empowerment and support for underprivileged communities, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has extended a significant grant totaling over Rs 30 lakh for the education expenses of Sikligar and Vanjaara Sikhs in Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh for the academic session 2023-24.

The SGPC’s decision to release an amount of Rs 30.33 lakh specifically earmarked for covering school fees underscores its commitment to facilitating access to education for children belonging to marginalized backgrounds. This move, initiated under the leadership of SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami, reflects a tangible effort towards providing tangible support to families facing financial constraints in ensuring their children’s educational journey.

The aid, disbursed in the form of school fees, is set to benefit Sikligar and Vanjaara children enrolled in various educational institutions across Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh. The allocation of funds for this purpose underscores the SGPC’s proactive engagement with communities beyond Punjab, advocating for their welfare and educational advancement.

The distribution of the aid was meticulously carried out by a designated member of the dharam prachar committee, ensuring transparency and efficiency in the disbursement process. Members of the SGPC delegation, in a display of dedication and commitment, personally visited different schools and colleges in Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh to fulfill the educational aspirations of deserving students.

By directly covering the educational expenses for the entire academic year, the SGPC’s initiative not only alleviates the financial burden on families but also reaffirms the organization’s enduring commitment to promoting inclusive growth and socio-economic development. Education, being a fundamental catalyst for societal progress, lies at the heart of SGPC’s endeavors to empower and uplift vulnerable communities, irrespective of geographical boundaries.

This noble endeavor by the SGPC serves as a beacon of hope and solidarity, resonating with the ethos of Sikhism, which advocates for equality, compassion, and social justice. It exemplifies the spirit of community service ingrained within the Sikh faith, transcending barriers to extend support to those in need.
