Savoring Success: LPU Celebrates Women Chefs at ‘Super Chefs of Punjab 2023’

Lovely Professional University’s School of Hotel Management and Tourism recently played host to a spectacular culinary event, the “Super Chefs of Punjab 2023 Competition, Women’s Edition.” This remarkable event, held on the eve of International Chefs Day, shone a spotlight on the exceptional talents of women in the culinary industry, celebrating their contributions and creativity in the world of gastronomy.

The culinary extravaganza served as a platform for women from all walks of life, including hobbyist chefs, seasoned professionals, ambitious entrepreneurs, and aspiring culinary students. Participants were invited to showcase their culinary prowess and innovative skills in two distinct competition categories: “Three Course Menu Set” and “Live Cake Dressing.” These categories were carefully designed to empower and acknowledge the immense contributions of women in the culinary field.

International Chefs Day, celebrated worldwide, aims to recognize the invaluable contributions of chefs and promote healthy eating habits. At LPU’s event, this day was made even more special with the presence of renowned chefs who graced the occasion as esteemed jury members. The event was privileged to host the culinary expertise of Chef Sangeeta Dhar, Chef Rekha Sharma, Chef Jai Kumar Bhasin, Chef Vivek Saggar, and Chef Gunjan Goela. Their presence added prestige to the competition and contributed significantly to its success.

Beyond being a culinary competition, this event promoted gender equality and acknowledged the remarkable accomplishments of talented women in the field. It also provided a significant platform for LPU’s Hotel Management students, showcasing the university’s commitment to academic excellence through refined extracurricular activities.

Speaking about the event, LPU’s Pro Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Sanjay Modi, emphasized the global significance of International Chefs Day. He highlighted the pivotal role chefs play in offering diverse cuisines and encouraging people to adopt healthier eating habits. The Ministry of Education’s NIRF Rankings 2023 also recognized the School of Hotel Management at LPU as one of the best institutions in India, marking a significant leap of 9 positions in the rankings.

The competition featured some outstanding talents, and the winners truly shone. In the “Hot Kitchen” category, Manlida Jain secured the first position, followed by Ishmeet Kaur in second place and Shahista Samreen in third place. Similarly, in the “Cake Dressing” category, Ashmeet Kaur emerged as the first-place winner, with Kolimeno Terhuja securing second place and Jeeyoi Deori taking the third spot. Each of these talented individuals was awarded cash prizes and testimonials to recognize their culinary prowess and creativity.

It’s worth noting that all participants, regardless of their rankings, were honored and encouraged with attractive gift hampers from esteemed sponsors, including the Indian Culinary Forum, AMUL, Sky Enterprise, and more.
