In a significant triumph for law enforcement, the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) of the Punjab Police has scored a major victory in their ongoing battle against organized crime. On Wednesday, DGP Gaurav Yadav announced the successful arrest of a key operative affiliated with the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar gang. The apprehension took place in Landran, Kharar, and marked a crucial development in the ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks operating in the region.
The accused, identified as Sachin, also known as Bacchi, hails from Mangali in Hisar and had been a fugitive from justice. In a decisive operation, the police not only apprehended Sachin but also confiscated four pistols and 12 cartridges from his possession, further enhancing public safety.
DGP Yadav explained that this breakthrough followed actionable intelligence provided to the AGTF. Under the capable supervision of ADGP Promod Ban, the police teams successfully arrested Sachin near the gate of the Chandigarh Group of Colleges in Landran. Sachin’s role within the gang primarily involved providing logistical support and safe havens for other members of the criminal organization.
Moreover, preliminary investigations have shed light on the alarming fact that the accused and his associates were actively plotting to carry out attacks. These sinister schemes were orchestrated under the directives of foreign handlers, hinting at a far-reaching criminal network with international connections.
Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of the AGTF, Sandeep Goel, revealed that Sachin had an existing criminal record and had been a fugitive from the Punjab Police’s radar for some time. He affirmed that ongoing investigations were in progress, raising expectations of additional recoveries and further arrests from this criminal module.
In response to these developments, an FIR has been registered under Section 25 of the Arms Act at the Punjab State Crime police station in Mohali. This action underscores the commitment of the Punjab Police to bring criminals to justice and protect the safety and security of the citizens in the region.
The successful arrest of Sachin and the seizure of firearms and ammunition represent a significant milestone in the ongoing battle against organized crime in Punjab. Law enforcement agencies, such as the Anti-Gangster Task Force, continue to work tirelessly to dismantle these criminal networks and ensure the safety and well-being of the public.
