NIA Conducts Raids in Punjab Linked to Canada-Based Terrorist

by Parminder Singh Sodhi

In a sweeping crackdown yesterday, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) unleashed a series of raids across Punjab, targeting the network of associates linked to the notorious Canada-based terrorist Goldy Brar. This operation, part of a broader probe into an extortion and firing case, aimed to dismantle the intricate web of criminal-terrorist activities orchestrated by Brar and his cohorts.

According to an official statement released by the anti-terror agency, a total of nine locations tied to Brar and his aides came under intense scrutiny. The raids were a pivotal step in unraveling the intricate threads of a case originating from an extortion and firing incident registered in Chandigarh. This move by the NIA marks a significant escalation in efforts to curb the nefarious activities of Brar and his syndicate.

Just a day prior to the raids, the NIA had escalated legal action by filing a charge sheet against Brar and 11 others for their alleged involvement in the chilling assassination of Karni Sena chief Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi in Jaipur last year. This underscores the agency’s relentless pursuit of justice and its unwavering commitment to upholding the rule of law.

In a bid to bolster their investigation, the NIA has solicited the public’s assistance in providing crucial information about Satinderjit Singh alias Goldy Brar and his associates. The agency has released dedicated telephone numbers, urging individuals to come forward with any pertinent details or instances of threat calls received from the gang. Assuring confidentiality, the NIA emphasizes the pivotal role of public cooperation in combating the scourge of terrorism.

The scope of Thursday’s raids extended across multiple districts, including Mohali, Patiala, Hoshiarpur, and Fatehgarh Sahib. Seizing incriminating material, including digital devices, the NIA unearthed damning evidence implicating Brar and his accomplices in a litany of criminal activities. Investigations have shed light on their insidious agenda, which encompassed extortion, arms trafficking, narcotics trade, and the recruitment of impressionable youth into their nefarious fold.

Of particular concern is Brar’s affiliation with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, a notorious criminal outfit notorious for its brazen acts of violence and intimidation. Brar’s audacious claim of responsibility for the murder of prominent Punjabi singer Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, better known as Sidhu Moosewala, underscores the gravity of his criminal enterprise.

As the NIA intensifies its efforts to dismantle the sprawling network of terrorist operatives, the raids in Punjab serve as a stark reminder of the persistent threat posed by transnational terrorism. With public vigilance and proactive law enforcement measures, authorities remain resolute in their mission to safeguard national security and uphold the sanctity of justice.
