Khalsa College for Women Attains Autonomous Status, Paving the Way for Academic Excellence

In a significant milestone for education in the region, Khalsa College for Women (KCW) in Amritsar has been bestowed with the prestigious Autonomous Status by the University Grants Commission (UGC) of India. This accreditation, marked by an ‘A’ grade from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), reaffirms the institution’s commitment to academic excellence and innovation. Affiliated with Guru Nanak Dev University, the college received this honor through UGC’s letter dated 26th September 2023, underlining its dedication to maintaining the highest universal standards in education.

Dr. Surinder Kaur, the esteemed principal of Khalsa College for Women, expressed her elation at this remarkable achievement. She emphasized the institution’s unwavering commitment to providing world-class education to its female students, equipping them with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in an ever-evolving global landscape. With the grant of Autonomous Status, the college now stands poised to chart its own path, with increased academic and operational autonomy.

Under this newfound independence, Khalsa College for Women will have the freedom to design and implement its own syllabi, introduce pioneering courses, and adopt modern educational practices such as the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS). Moreover, the institution is set to embark on collaborative ventures with renowned foreign universities, fostering international partnerships that enrich the learning experience for its students.

In line with its vision to produce globally employable graduates, Khalsa College for Women has launched a diverse array of undergraduate and postgraduate programs. At the undergraduate level, students can now pursue Bachelor degrees in Tourism & Hotel Management, Social Sciences, Artificial Intelligence & Data Sciences, Bio-Technology, Food Technology, and Hons. Economics. Meanwhile, postgraduate offerings include Master’s degrees in Cosmetology and Clinical Nutrition & Dietetics, catering to the evolving demands of various industries.

The introduction of Five-Year Integrated courses in Commerce and Punjabi, along with specialized diploma and certificate programs in Gurmat Sangeet, Animations, and Cyber Crime, further enhances the college’s academic portfolio, providing students with comprehensive educational pathways tailored to their interests and career aspirations.
