The ‘Innovative Farmer Awards 2024’ stands as a beacon of recognition for those who have not only cultivated crops but also sown the seeds of innovation and diversification.

Scheduled to coincide with the PAU Kisan Mela in September 2024, this ceremony aims to celebrate the tireless efforts of farmers who have propelled Punjab’s agricultural landscape forward. Dr. MS Bhullar, Director of Extension Education, unveiled the categories and rewards awaiting these agricultural innovators.

The prestigious ‘Sardar Dalip Singh Dhaliwal Memorial Award’ awaits the self-cultivating farmer who has excelled in field crops, symbolizing the essence of Punjab’s agricultural heritage. With a cash prize of Rs 5,000, along with a plaque and citation, this award is a testament to the dedication and expertise of those who toil in the fields day in and day out.

For those pioneers who have embraced diversification, the ‘Parwasi Bharti Award’ beckons. Valued at Rs 8,000, along with a plaque and citation, this award recognizes the self-cultivating farmers who have embraced a diversified farming system. Their commitment to exploring new avenues in agriculture is not only commendable but also essential for the sustainable future of Punjab’s agriculture.

Additionally, the ‘Sardar Ujagar Singh Dhaliwal Memorial Award’ awaits the self-cultivating vegetable grower who has dedicated a significant portion of their land to vegetable crops in both winter and summer seasons. This award acknowledges the vital role of vegetable growers in ensuring food security and nutritional diversity in Punjab.

Dr. Bhullar emphasized that the application process for these awards is accessible to all eligible farmers. Application forms can be obtained from various agricultural institutions across Punjab, including Krishi Vigyan Kendras, Regional Stations, and District Extension Specialists. The deadline for submissions is July 15, 2024, underscoring the urgency and importance of recognizing Punjab’s agricultural pioneers.

Each award category represents a distinct facet of Punjab’s agricultural tapestry, highlighting the diverse talents and contributions of its farming community. As the backbone of Punjab’s economy, these farmers deserve not only recognition but also support and encouragement to continue their journey of innovation and sustainability.

In honoring the innovative spirit of Punjab’s farmers, the ‘Innovative Farmer Awards 2024’ not only celebrates past achievements but also inspires future endeavors.
