Punjab has secured a major boost to its industrial and innovation landscape with a fresh investment of ₹500 crore, as Amber Group of Industries announced plans to establish a cutting-edge research and development facility in Rajpura.

The proposed centre is expected to play a pivotal role in advancing high-end engineering and design capabilities in the state. Welcoming the announcement, Industries and Commerce Minister Sanjeev Arora said the move reflected growing confidence among large corporates in Punjab’s industrial environment. He noted that the investment underlined the effectiveness of the state’s pro-industry policies, availability of skilled professionals and a business-friendly ecosystem.

According to the Minister, the project will generate nearly 1,000 well-paying, specialised jobs, offering a significant push to employment in advanced technical fields. He added that the facility would help strengthen Punjab’s standing as an emerging destination for sophisticated product development rather than just conventional manufacturing.

The new R&D hub will focus on the design, testing and validation of next-generation heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems, catering to both Indian and international markets. Officials said the initiative fits squarely into Punjab’s broader vision of promoting innovation-led manufacturing and expanding its footprint in global exports.

Amber Enterprises India Limited Chief Executive Officer Jasbir Singh said the decision to set up the centre in Rajpura was driven by the state’s strong talent base, modern industrial infrastructure and supportive policy framework. He added that the project, to be developed in two phases, demonstrates the company’s long-term commitment to research-driven growth in India.

With this investment, Punjab is expected to further consolidate its position as a growing hub for advanced engineering, product design and innovation-focused industry.
