The meeting was chaired by GNDU Vice-Chancellor Dr Karamjeet Singh, with the Dean of Academic Affairs also present.

Describing the appointment as a milestone for GNDU, Vice-Chancellor Dr Karamjeet Singh remarked, “Mr. Jaspreet Singh’s association with GNDU will be immensely beneficial to our students. His vast international experience and commitment to justice will help elevate the university’s academic and legal standing, particularly in the areas of international law and human rights.”

Jaspreet Singh, a seasoned attorney with more than two decades of legal practice in the United States, specializes in immigration and nationality law, deportation defense, and green card litigation. Based in New York, he also operates legal practices in California, New Jersey, and Maryland. Singh has successfully handled over 10,000 immigration, asylum, and deportation cases, including sensitive matters under the Torture Victim Protection Act.

Apart from his professional accomplishments, Singh is deeply rooted in community service. He has provided pro bono legal aid to low-income families and elderly immigrants within the Punjabi diaspora in the US. His tireless efforts and adherence to Sikh values have earned him high regard across the Sikh-American community.

Further deepening his commitment to GNDU and Sikh scholarship, Jaspreet Singh has pledged a generous financial grant of ₹3.5 crore to establish a Sikh Studies Chair at the university.
